It's Official!

It is official! I booked our trip to NYC today! I am so excited and I can't wait for August to get here. Dustin and I are going to go to NYC for our 1 year anniversary! I found a really really good deal for flight and hotel so I booked it today. I was a little hesitant at first and have been pondering the idea for quite sometime. But with the deal I found today, I made the plunge and I booked it. Besides it might be the last time Dustin and I get to travel for a while.

I have been to New York once when I was younger and Dustin has never been. Did I mention that I am really excited!

Also just a quick note to say that I have the best husband in the world! He bought me the Marley & Me DVD today and he is going to wash my car for me this afternoon! He is the best! I love him!

My week just got a little brighter!

Do I really need one?

Yes, my friends, I really want an iphone. I am not sure why since really all I use my phone for is to make calls and check my work e-mail. I rarely text message. You read that correctly, I don't text message much. In fact, I am not much for talking on the phone. I just don't like it. So why do I want an iphone you ask? I don't know. I just don't know.

They look really cool but that is not a reason to get one. I know I would have a hard time trying to figure out how to use the thing. I have had a Blackberry for almost 2 years and I barely know how to use it. I only know the main functions. But I still want an iphone even though they are really expensive and I have no justifiable reason to get one. My husband thinks I should get one. Probably because he thinks they are just as cool and he wants to use it.

So any of you iphone users out there think they are worth the money? What do you use your iphone for other than texting and making phone calls?

Weekend Fun

This weekend flew by. It is already Sunday which means tomorrow is Monday. Boo! I hate Mondays. I did have a lot of fun this weekend! Friday night Dustin and I had date night which consisted of going to eat at Chili's and going to the grocery store. Fun date huh? Actually it was fun just hanging out. We have been so busy lately it was nice just spending time together just the 2 of us.

Yesterday I was a hostess at Angela's bridal shower. She is getting married in May. I met Angela in college at Texas Tech and we were roommates for 2 years. Her shower was a lot of fun. She opened presents, we ate and played a few fun games. I took a few pictures to share.

The pretty pink cupcakes and her message board. My favorite piece of advise that someone wrote was to "fight naked".

The Bride-to-be opening her gifts.

Then that night we all went out for Angela's Bachelorette Party! We went to downtown Ft. Worth. Her sister had booked a suite at a hotel so we all met up there and did Angela's lingerie shower. She got some cute and kinky stuff.

So cute!

After she opened gifts we all headed to eat dinner at an Italian restaurant called Taverna. Then we headed to Pete's Piano Bar.

Me & Angela! Yes, they made her wear that goofy pink cowboy hat with a veil attached. She was a good sport about it!

Hope you are enjoying your weekend! I am enjoying my lazy Sunday!

Happy Friday!

I am so glad today is Friday! The weather is yucky here but I am still looking forward to the weekend. I have a bridal shower and a bachelorette party tomorrow. We are going to Ft. Worth tomorrow night and it should be a fun night. I hope this old lady can hang with all the girls. I am usually in bed by 10:00 even on the weekends!

Last night I was in bed by 7:30. I curled up and watched American Idol and Grey's Anatomy. Dustin was working so I had the bed all to myself....well sort of.....I had 2 dogs sprawled out beside me. Dustin called me this morning when he got home because I had already left for work and he said I was not allowed to go to bed at 7:30 anymore. Jax & Maribel were bouncing off the walls this morning. They were both up at 6:00 this morning playing and rough housing outside until I had to leave for work. And let me just tell you, those dogs are never up that early. They are always the last ones to get up. I have to make them get out of bed in the mornings when I leave for work. I guess they had too much sleep last night.

I had to be at work by 8:00 this morning and it takes me an hour to get to work so I had to leave my house by 7:00 this morning and man am I tired. I even stopped for coffee and I never do that. Then to top off my morning my husband calls me and he has been truck shopping. He wants a new truck. Oh geez! I am too tired to even think about that right now.

I will leave with this cute picture of my babies. I took this last night when I went outside to water the flowers. We have a glass storm door on the front door and they love to stand there and look out. Any time you go outside they are right there looking through the glass pleading with you not to leave them. I couldn't resist taking a quick picture because Maribel's tongue cracks me up!

Happy Friday everyone!

This and That

I can't wait! Dustin told me last night that Marley & Me is coming out on DVD on March 31st! I love this movie! I will be buying this movie on Tuesday. I read the book several years ago and we went to see the movie at Christmas. I can't wait to watch it again even though I know I will bawl my eyes out again.

Did anyone watch American Idol last night? Everyone did so good. My favorite is still Matt and I thought he did such a great job singing Let's Get It On. All the contestants had to sing Motown songs. Adam did a fantastic job. He was my favorite of the night. It is hard to pick who will make it to the finals because there are so many good ones this year.

What is up with Paula and Simon? I know they usually disagree with each other but they sure are flirty. They were very annoying last night. Did anybody else notice this?

I found a new book that is on my must read list. I haven't had much time for reading lately and I still haven't finished Good In Bed. I did get to read a little last night. I can't wait to hurry and finish it so I can start reading Chasing Harry Winston by Lauren Weisberger. She is the author of The Devil Wears Prada. This sounds like a good one.

Well there is some randomness for your Thursday. It has been a long week and I am glad it is almost over.

Wordful Wednesday

*Wordful Wednesday is for those of us that like to showcase a photo(s) but that just can't seem keep our mouths shut about it(them). If you'd like to play along, post a photo on your blog, and let the words roll.

This is one of my favorite pictures of my sister and I. My sister goes to school at Texas Tech in Lubbock and I went out to visit her last fall and we went to a Red Raider football game. It was so fun! I love football especially Red Raider football! Seeing this picture makes me a little sad because I can't believe how grown up my sister is. She is going to be a Junior in college. I still think of her as my LITTLE sister even though she is all grown up.

I still remember playing with barbies, playing school and I would boss her around and our daily fights over the bathroom. Now I don't get to see her very often and it makes wish I could get those days back. She is truly my best friend and I am proud of the lady she has become. Sorry to get all mushy and reminiscent on you but she was just home for a week at Spring Break and now she is back at school and I miss her.

Please pray for baby Stellan. I follow MckMama's blog and her little one is really sick. Baby Stellan really needs your prayers.

Prayers for Stellan

Exhausting Weekend

This has been an extremely busy weekend for me. I am so tired and I can barely move. I will start from the beginning and WARNING...there are lots of pictures!

Thursday night Dustin cooked shrimp, chicken & beef skewers with squash and zucchini on the grill. They were so good! He also grilled pineapple. I was in heaven. Then we relaxed and watched Grey's....one of my favorites!

Friday night Dustin was working and I came home and cleaned out my closet. That was chore. I also cleaned out all my drawers. I have a ton of clothes that I am getting rid of. I can't believe I held on to some of my clothes for so long. I took a picture of the mound of clothes but it really doesn't do it justice. It is a huge pile and I still have to go through and fold it all and put it into garbage bags to take to Goodwill or CCA.

Saturday morning Dustin came home from work and we went to eat breakfast at IHOP. Yum! Then after that we headed to Lowe's to get all the stuff for our landscaping project. My dad had to come meet us to haul all the stone back to our house. We started landscaping about 10:30 that morning and didn't stop until 5:00 that afternoon. We still didn't even finish. I was so sore I could barely walk.

Here are some before pictures.

All the stone for the edging.

Jax & Maribel trying to help but really just getting in the way!

The main flower bed before we started landscaping.

One of the trees before we started.

Clark came by to help!

Me working hard! I have terrible look on my face....I think I was completely exhausted at this point.

Then Saturday night Dustin and I some how managed to get up enough energy to shower and go to Pete's Piano Bar with my mom, dad, sister and Clark. We had planned this over a month ago. Clark & Nadalee were home for Spring Break. We had a blast! My dad had never been before and I think he had a good time....I think it was a little loud for him though.

Hilarious! They were doing some dance to the song Happy Happy Joy Joy. I was laughing so hard!

Sisters!

Mom, Dad & Me

Then this morning Dustin and I finished landscaping. We only had a little bit left to do and we wanted to get it over with. It didn't take us too long to finish and I must say that our yard is looking good. One of our neighbors stopped by to compliment our yard! It was exhausting and expensive but so worth it. Our yard looks 10 times better! Here are some pics of the finished product!

The main flower bed.

I am exhausted but it was a fun weekend! I still have a bunch of stuff to do today. I haven't even showered yet. We are about to grab something to eat then I have to give the dogs a bath, do some laundry and clean up around the house. It never ends. I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!

Spring Cleaning

Now that it is officially spring it is time for me to do some spring cleaning in my closet. I did a little lunch time shopping earlier this week because I had some birthday money burning a hole in my pocket. When I brought my new clothes home and was hanging them up in the closet I could barely fit them in.

Then I realized that I have some really old clothes hanging in my closet. I think I even saw a few shirts that I wore in high school. How crazy is that! I think it is time to let go...don't you think? So I am going to spend my Friday night cleaning the closet. Sounds exciting doesn't it??

Does anyone have any exciting plans for the weekend? We are going to Pete's Piano Bar tomorrow night and I am excited. I hope to finally start our landscaping project this weekend too. It was cold & rainy last weekend. Have a good weekend!

Ture or False?

I have been hearing rumors that Jon & Kate from John & Kate Plus 8 are getting a divorce. This article talks about the rumors and how Jon has been spotted partying every night of the week. It also talks about how this could be a marketing ploy for TLC to get more viewers to tune in to the season finale.

I love the show and I truly hope that this is just a rumor. Part of me can't help but think maybe it is true because if you watch the show you can see how Kate belittles Jon and talks to him as if he is one of the children. I hope for the children's sake this is just a rumor.

What do you think?

Praises

Kelly's Korner did a post yesterday on her blog about praises and what you are most thankful for. I didn't have time yesterday to list my praises so here they are...a day late. It seems like there are so many terrible things happening in our world right now that it is hard to see the good. But each of us have something that we can be thankful for.

Praise: I am so thankful for God and that I have a relationship with him. I am thankful that I have the freedom to praise Him.

Praise: That I have job to go to everyday. So many people are hurting right now with the state of the economy and loss of their jobs.

Praise: For the beautiful weather and that I have the freedom to enjoy it!

Praise: For my wonderful husband and family who loves me very much.

Praise: For my friends who are there for me when I need them.

Praise: For the house that I live in because I have a roof over my head and food to put on the table.

What are your praises?

P.S. Did anyone watch American Idol this week? I loved that it was country week. At this point everyone is so good it is hard to see someone sent home. I was glad that the judges didn't use their save on Alexis. I think my favorite at this point in the competition is Matt.

Wordful Wednesday

Several of my blog friends follow Angie's blog and participate in Wordful Wednesday so I thought I would give it a shot. If you want to participate head on over to Angie's blog.

I just love this picture! It is an old one but a good one. This was the day we brought our first puppy Jax home. Isn't he cute! Now he is an 80 pound drooling giant. I remember we went out to Bowie, Texas to a breeder that we found in the newspaper. Of course we were one of those couples that went with no intentions of buying a puppy. Guess what! We did! Jax whimpered the whole way home and I felt so bad for the little guy. His world was changing before his eyes.

3 years later I couldn't imagine my life if we hadn't of brought Jax home with us that day. He is one of those loving dogs with an unforgettable personality. He always greets me at the door, cuddles with me, loves to go for rides and loves Milk Bones! He is always making me laugh. We recently added a new addition to our family, Maribel. Jax & Maribel are inseparable but boy, they are a handful! Dogs can bring so much joy to your life and they love you no matter what.

St. Patrick's Day

So I did forget today was St. Patrick's Day and I am not wearing green. So pinch me! Ha! I did find some tasty Irish recipes that I thought I would share. I might had even attempted to make these if my husband wasn't on shift today. No one would be around to eat them but me.

These are making me hungry! Happy St. Patrick's Day! Are you wearing green?

Not Me! Monday

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

~ I did not eat birthday cake, cookie cake and wedding cake over the course of the weekend. No not me! I would never cheat so badly on my diet!

~ I did not eat some of the cookie cake for breakfast one morning this weekend. I would never do such a thing. Not me!

~ I did not make my husband leave the wedding on Saturday night when he didn't want to because it was 10:30 and I was extremely tired. No, not me!

~ I did not make my husband buy new clothes to wear to the wedding on Saturday night because I didn't like any of his clothes and he refused to wear his suit.

~ I did not go so long without doing laundry that my husband did not have any clean clothes. No, not me!

Happy Monday Friends!

Wedding

Last night we went to our friends Josh & Heather's wedding. It was a fun evening because a lot of my good friends were at the wedding and we got to catch up. I have known Josh, the groom, since I was 5 years old. His sister April and I have been best friends since kindergarten. We had a blast last night.

It was such a dreary and cold day yesterday but the wedding was still beautiful. Here are some pictures I took last night.

Birthday Fun

Yesterday was my 25th birthday! Yes, I know I am a quarter of a century old. It makes me feel old when I think about it that way. I had a great birthday. I went to have lunch with Dustin, my sister and her boyfriend Clark. We went to eat at McAlister's and it was so yummy. After lunch Dustin and I went to run errands in the rain. I hate the rain.

Then we came home and relaxed for a little bit and I opened my birthday present from Dustin. He got me a digital photo frame! I realize I am a little behind the times but I have always wanted one and I finally got one yesterday! I am going to put it on my desk at work.

Last night I went out to eat with family at Gloria's in Frisco. I love Mexican food! I had a great birthday. I got money, clothes and an Ipod Shuffle. We also ate yummy cookie cake. I always have a cookie cake on my birthday. I love them! Here are a few pictures from the night.

Dustin being Dustin....he never smiles in pictures.

Me right after all the waiters sang Happy Birthday as loud as possible to me. I was a little embarrassed.

Opening Presents

It was a fun day despite the weather. Today is another dreary day and a perfect day for relaxing around the house. We have another wedding to go to tonight. The rest of our weekend is pretty low key.

Have a wonderful Saturday!
