Upper Management

Yes, that's right I am the Assistant Fire Manager for our office. My manager thought that since Stephanie (my co-worker) and I are married to fireman that we would make great fire manager's for our office.

We have a fire drill today at 3 and Stephanie isn't here. Guess who gets to wear the UGLY orange vest today during the fire drill?

That's right, ME. I just know it is going to look great with my cute purple dress I am wearing today. Oh what a glorious day this has turned out to be.

On a brigther note, we get cookies after the fire drill provided by our building management office. I think I should get 2 for having to wear the orange vest. Don't ya think?

Not Me! Monday

Not Me! Monday is back this week!

You can go here if you want to play along!

~ I did not go almost an entire month without cleaning my house. Never in a million years would I do something like that!

~ I did not talk myself out of working out yesterday and then proceed to cheat on my diet. No, not me!

~ I did not spend way too much money at Sam's because I just got a new membership and thought that I needed everything in the store. Me spend way too much money??? Nah, not me!

~ I did not make my husband watch Bridezillas and Army Wives with me yesterday! I would never put my husband through such torture! Not me!

~ I did not see my husband vacuuming Maribel, our dog, with the hose attachment on our bed last night. Nothing that strange ever happens at our house. No, not at our house! (P.S. - I really wished I was able to get a picture of this, Dustin was vacuuming in our bedroom and had the hose attachment out and Maribel plopped down in front of him and he started vacuuming her with the hose. She loved it and rolled over on her back! So strange!!)

Happy Monday friends!!!

Weekend Review

Another weekend has come and gone. They always fly by. I had a pretty good weekend even though it got off to a bad start.

Friday night I didn't get home from work until 8:00. Boo! We had a late closing and everything that could go wrong went wrong. Needless to say I was not in a good mood. I came home and curled up in my chair and Dustin and I watched Valkyrie.

I thought it was a really good movie. I loved history and World War II was one of my favorites to learn about.

Saturday Dustin was working at the station so I got up and worked out. Ugh! I so did not want to but I made myself. I am still on level 2 and think that I may be there for a while. It kicks my butt every time. Then I cleaned the entire house. It hasn't been cleaned in almost a month. Gasp! I know...I am terrible. Then I ran a few errands and came back and home and had a movie marathon my myself.

I rented Bride Wars.

I know I am probably the last girl on earth to see this movie. I thought it was really cute! Definitely my kind of movie.

Then I watched Taken.

This was a really good movie too! Probably not the best movie to watch by myself late at night though! Needless to say, I had a movie marathon weekend! We still didn't get around to seeing Hangover. I am probably the last person on earth to see this movie too! Ha! Hopefully next weekend we can go see it.

Today Dustin and I went to eat lunch at Firehouse Subs with my parents and then we went to Sam's. Sam's kind of overwhelms me but we found some good deals. Jax and Maribel appreciate our trip very much!

We got them a 14 pound box of Milk Bones. Their favorite!

This is what they do every morning until you give them their milk bone. They sit there and stare at the jar on the counter until you give them one. So silly!

Dustin is grilling steaks tonight! Yum! What a great way to wrap up the weekend...steaks and an all new episode of Army Wives!

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

Friday Rants and Raves

It's Friday!!! Thank goodness! I am so worn out and so glad it is almost the weekend! I have a few things I wanted to rant and rave about today.

I know that everyone on the planet knows that Michael Jackson died yesterday. He was totally CRAZY but undeniably the King of Pop. I don't think there is one person out there who didn't like his music and his weird music videos. My favorite Michael Jackson song is Billie Jean. Love it! My second favorite is Thriller....who didn't like that song?!?!

What is your favorite MJ song?

Last night Dustin and I were flipping through the channels trying to find something on TV. We came to MTV and saw a show called 16 and Pregnant. I told him to stop because I wanted to see what it was about. I never watch MTV because I really can't stand it. So we watched the show and I was horrified. I couldn't believe that they were filming the life of a pregnant 16 year old. It was almost as if they were promoting teenage pregnancy, like they were saying it is okay to be pregnant that young. What is America coming to? Have any of you seen this show? It's no wonder there are so many teenage pregnancies these days because everyone thinks it is no big deal. In the end it is the child that suffers. I could go and on and on but I am not going to. I just wanted to rant about how shocked I was that they would make a show about this.

Another thing that I wanted to rant about real quick, is men's little attention to details. Several of my husband's friends are getting married or having babies and every time I ask him about so and so his answer is, I don't know I didn't ask. Ughhh.....it bugs me! Example, his good friend Ryan and his wife Denise just had a baby at the end of May and Ryan called Dustin to tell him that the baby was here. When I got home from work Dustin told me Denise had delivered her baby. I immediately started asking questions....what did they name her, how much did she weight, what time was she born, etc. His response.....I don't know I didn't ask. Your kidding me right? How can you not ask those types of questions? I still don't know what they named their baby. Is anybody else's husband like this? Don't get me wrong, I am not complaining it just really irritates me when my husband doesn't get the details. Maybe I am just too nosey.

I will quit ranting now. I guess had more to rant about than rave about. I am excited about this weekend. My sister is moving home and Dustin and I are going to go see The Hangover. I can't wait to see it! I really want to go get some yogurt from Yogurt Story this weekend too. Sounds like the perfect date to me! Have a fabulous Friday everyone!

Texas Heat

I don't know about yall but I am so tired of this heat. It is sooo hot outside that I can barely stand it. I love summer because it means getting to wear flip flops and cute summer dresses but I think I love winter more. I would so rather be cold than hot. I think the temperature today is going to reach 103 degrees. If you ask me that is just too dang hot!

I have never been a dress girl. I just can't ever find cute dresses that look good on me. Recently I have been on a dress kick though. I found several cute dresses lately and I have worn more dresses in the past few months than I have in years. They are like my new addiction. I found another really cute dress that I think I am going to have to pick up this weekend.

This one is from Old Navy. I just think it is adorable! It looks cool enough that maybe I won't sweat to death in it!

Another thing I hate about this heat, is what it does to my hair. I have really straight hair...I mean so straight that it won't hold curl for more than 15 minutes. The humidity doesn't help. I found this new flat iron from Instyler and I really want it. Have you seen it or heard about it? It is rotating flat iron that curls and straightens. How cool is that??

I guess some how I think it might magically curl my hair and make it look like this.

In my dreams! I still want it and I might have to break down and buy it at some point. I know there are lots of Chi users out there but I have never owned one. My hair is so straight that just any old flat iron works on my hair. I just run it over my hair a few times after blow drying and it is smooth and straight.

It may be a hot one today but I am so glad it is Thursday! This has been an extremely long week and I couldn't be happier that it is almost over!

Follow Up & A Prayer Request

I thought I would follow up on a few things from some of my previous posts.

I will start with the whole Jon & Kate saga. The whole situation just irritates me. First of all, I don't think they should be doing this on national television. It makes me so mad and I feel so bad for those kids. I am sure it will come back to haunt them one day. It is bad enough for them to have go through this and then Jon & Kate feel they need to do it front of all of America? It isn't anybody's business. I wish they would stop the show immediately. That is all I am going to say about that.

I am on Level 2 of the Shred! OMG.....it is so hard! I can barely get through it but I stick it out. I don't even want to know what Level 3 is like but hopefully I will get there before too long. I have been eating right and I can totally tell a difference. I hate working out but I do feel much better when I do. I seem to have more energy throughout the day. I am working out at least 5-6 days out of the week. I am doing my best to stick with it!

On a more serious note, I have a prayer request. My grandmother has an anurisium in her stomach. It is pretty serious and they are going to monitor her for a few weeks. They are probably going to have to remove it surgically. My biggest concern is they aren't doing surgery right away. I am not sure what the doctor's reasoning is. I am just really worried that it could burst between now and when they do perform the surgery. My grandmother is going back to the doctor today and I hope that we find out more information on what the plan is going to be. I am asking all of you to please keep her in your prayers.

I am sorry for the lack of pictures lately. We haven't done anything exciting recently. I am looking forward to 4th of July even though we don't have any plans yet. I am looking forward to an extra day off work! I am glad it is Wednesday, at least the week is half over with!

What Do You Think It Will Be?

What do you think Jon & Kate's big announcement will be?

My guess is that it won't be anything big. They are only doing this to get more viewers.

What do you think?

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to the most incredible Dad in the world! I am so blessed to have a Dad like you!

I could never thank you enough for all that you have done for me! Love you!

..........................................

It has been a pretty low key weekend. Friday night I had Bunco with the girls and Saturday I went shopping with my mom & sister. I got a few really cute tops from The Limited on SALE! Yea!! They had lots of cute stuff on sale.

Saturday night I went to eat with my entire family for my aunt's birthday celebration and then I came home and watched New In Town. It is a really cute movie!

Today I am headed to church with the family for Father's Day and then coming home for a busy afternoon of cleaning and laundry.
Hope you all had a fantastic weekend!

Movies

I have not been to the movies in forever! I think the last movie I saw at the movie theatre was He's Just Not That Into You back in February. Do you go to the movies often?

I really like going to the movies other than the fact that it has gotten really expensive. Dustin and I used to go a lot and now we never go. We would always go and buy candy and drinks and put them in my purse and sneak them in!

There are a few movies out that I want to see and few that are coming out soon that I can't wait to see!

I don't know why but I want to see Hangover.

Have you seen it? Is it any good?

I also want to see The Proposal which comes out today.

I like Sandra Bullock and I usually always like her movies. I am sure this is a total chick flick but it looks funny.

I really want to see this.

I just love Jennifer Aniston! So does my husband so maybe I can get him to go see this with me!

This one looks so good! I am really excited about this one!

Looks like I will be having lots of girl's nights in the near future. I always like the chick flicks.

What movies are you excited about?

Couple of Things....

I was gone all day yesterday to Bentonville, AR for work. It was a very long day but thank goodness we made it there and back in one piece. As I have gotten older I have developed this fear of flying. Once I am up in the air I am usually fine but it is the taking off and landing that I hate. We arrived in Bentonville around 10:00am and then got our rental car and headed over to Wal-Mart's home office. Once we had located their home office we went to grab an early lunch and then headed back over to Wal-Mart for a long day of meetings. They went pretty well. I didn't get home until 9:00 last night and I went straight to bed. I am so behind on my blog reading. I hope to catch up today.

Our new bed was delivered yesterday! Thanks Dad! My Dad sells Ethan Allen furniture so he is our source for furniture and no, we didn't get our bed for free! After all my dad has done for us I couldn't not pay for our new furniture. I slept great last night! Love having a king size bed!

On Tuesday Jordan over at Two Dogs, A Girl and A Husband's Grace gave me the Friend's Award!

I love Jordan's blog and you should definitely check it out! She is constantly making me laugh! She is from the great state of Texas too and our husband's are both fireman. I have enjoyed getting to know her. She is always leaving comment love for other fellow bloggers. She is fantastic! Thanks Jordan for the award!

"This award is bestowed on to blogs that are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers. Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this cleverly-written text into the body of their award."

I am supposed to give this award out to 8 fellow bloggers but I feel that I just can't choose. So, if you follow my blog I am passing this award on to you! You are all fabulous bloggers I enjoy reading each and every one of your blogs! Please pass the lovely award on!

Have a fantastic day! It is almost Friday!

Tuesday Tidbits

Some tidbits of information for you....

~ Not too much is going on in the Wynn household. We are getting our new king size bed this week! Woohoo!!

~ I am on Day 3 of the 30 Day Shred. It is hard! I am sticking with it even though I can barely walk, stand or sit!

~ I have lost 3 pounds....only 17 more to go! Gosh that sounds like a lot!

~ I got Dustin a really funny Father's Day card from the dogs. Ridiculous I know! Stop laughing at me, it was just too funny I had to get it!

~ I will be in Bentonville, AR tomorrow for work. We are flying out early tomorrow morning and coming back tomorrow evening. We are meeting with several of our contacts that we work with at Wal-Mart.

~ Update on the photographer situation. Our photographer agreed to do a 10x10 album for $1500. Still too expensive in my book but we took the deal because it was the only way we were going to get pictures of our wedding.

~ I am only 8 posts away from my 150th post! It feels like I just started this blog yesterday. Can't wait to look back on it over the years and see how much my life has changed!

~ I can't believe it is already the middle of June. Crazy! Boy does time fly!

~ Our one year anniversary is quickly approaching! I have no clue what to get Dustin. Any suggestions??? He keeps telling me he is going to give me paper because that is what it says to give for first year anniversaries. Ha! I honestly don't care if he gets me anything or not. I don't really need anything.

That is it for my random bits of information. Have a wonderful day everyone!

Mutt Monday

I finally got some pictures of the dogs to share for Mutt Monday, as if I never post pictures of them anyways! Ha! The lovely Jordan over at Two Dogs, A Girl and A Husband's Grace is the host of Mutt Monday.

Dustin and I take Jax and Maribel walking every night. They are so dang hyper that we have to do something to get their energy out. This week we have been walking down by the pasture behind our subdivision. No one is ever back there or drives down the road so we let them off their leash so they can run and play. Here is what they have been up to on their walk this week.

Running as fast as they possibly can once they are free from their leash!

Sniffing every blade of grass.

Walking with daddy.

Tired from running. Maribel's tongue is touching the ground. Ha!

What they do after their walk....sleep.

......................................................................

We had a nice relaxing weekend. We didn't do a thing. Dustin worked on Friday and I had a test that I had to take on Saturday morning. After my test I came home and did absolutely nothing. I was exhausted. Sunday we did nothing again. A perfect weekend if you ask me!

Fabulous Friday

It's Friday! I am looking forward to a weekend of nothing to do!!! Dustin is off all weekend so we are going to relax and do nothing! Sounds fabulous to me!

Since it is Friday I decided to make it a Fabulous Friday! You can head over to Well, That's Just Fabulous to play along.

Today's Fabulous Friday is....Fabulous Summer Treats! There are lots of things I love about summer but the Texas heat is not one of them. It is ridiculous....today the temperature is going to reach 98 degrees but it is going to feel like it is 103 degrees. It isn't even August yet. Yikes!

A good frozen margarita sure can cool me off in this dreadful heat. My favorite summertime margarita is the watermelon frozen margarita from On The Border. Yum!

Another favorite treat of mine is ice cream! Gotta love it! My mom used to always make homemade ice cream in the summer. My favorite was Butterfinger ice cream. It was so good! I have an ice cream maker that I got as gift at my wedding. I might just have to pull it out and make some, but first I have to figure out how. Ha!

I also love Cold Stone. My favorite is the Birthday Cake Remix. What is your favorite ice cream?

I also love this tasty treat!

Watermelon! It is perfect for a hot summer day! Love it!

I came across this recipe from Kelly's recipe blog. Strawberry Pretzel Dessert. It is so good and is perfect for a summer party. I definitely recommend making this.

What are your favorite summer treats??

What Do You Use?

Okay Ladies I need your help! I am looking for new make-up. Any suggestions? When I first started wearing make-up I used Cover Girl. It just didn't work for me. I have very oily skin. Then I switched to Clinique which I liked pretty well. I used to use a liquid base foundation and powder. I liked it all right but it still didn't compliment my oily skin that well. Now I use Mac Studio Fix powder plus foundation. Again, it just doesn't do much for my oily skin. In fact, I think it makes my skin more oily.

I am looking to switch again. I have considered going back to Clinique because they seem to offer more choices for different skin types. I use their bronzer and eye shadow. I think I want to go back to using a foundation and powder. I think I may try Stay True Makeup Oil Free Formula. Have you any of you tried it before?

I also want to try the Stay Matte Sheer Pressed Powder which is for oily skin.

The only thing about going back to Clinique is that it is expensive. What do you use or what would you recommend?

Exhausted

We are back! Who knew that spending 9 hours in a car could make you so tired. I could go to sleep right now and it is only 6:30. All I did was ride in a car today.

We had such a great time on our trip. I love my grandparents and don't get to see them that often. I loved going down to South Texas and spending time on their farm growing up. We really didn't do anything that exciting while we were there. Yesterday I wanted to take the dogs back over to the beach but I didn't get to. Dustin was a party pooper and didn't want to go and then I ended up spending the entire day talking to my aunt and grandmother. Good times!

No pictures for Mutt Monday. Hopefully I will have some good ones for next week. I am so not ready to go back to work tomorrow. Ugh!

Happy Monday!

South Texas Day 2 & 3

We are having so much fun and are not looking forward to the long drive home tomorrow. We have been very busy since we got here.

Friday night we all went over to South Padre Island to have dinner. I haven't been over there in years so it was fun to go over there and see what all has changed. There was still quite a bit of damage from Hurricane Dolly that came through here last July. Several of the hotels are still closed due to damage.

We ate at a seafood restaurant called Blackbeard's. It was so good!

My grandmother and my aunt Kim outside the restaurant.

Saturday my grandmother and I went shopping. I found new bedding for our new bed! Everything was 50% off! So excited! The comforter is Simply Vera Wang and I got it at Kohl's. I got the comforter, pillow shams, 2 sets of sheets and some decorative pillows all for 50% off.

Most of my house is done in brown and red. I got some red sheets and red pillows to accent.

Then we came home and went up to my uncle's ranch. He leases all the hunting and grazing rights. My cousin lives up there and takes care of the place. We drove around and saw lots of deer, wild hogs and turkeys. They also have cattle and horses on the land. During hunting season lots of people come to the ranch to hunt.

It is so pretty up there. This is just one part of the ranch up by my cousin's house. Also on the ranch, there is a rare owl that stays on the property and mates there. He never leaves. It is called a Pygmy Owl. People come from other countries to see this owl. I was in shock when my cousin told me this. I couldn't believe that people would fly all the way from a different country just to look at this owl. You have got to be kidding me! So my cousin took us to go see it.

He is very small in comparison to other owls. Not the greatest picture but he was high up in the tree and my camera zoom is not that good.

This morning we had homemade french toast on homemade bread and homemade syrup. I love my grandma's cookin! I wish I could cook like her and enjoy it! We are having a big lunch too. Don't have much planned for the rest of the day. The dogs and I are not looking forward the really long drive home tomorrow.

I hope to have some good pictures to share for Mutt Monday tomorrow! Hope you are enjoying your weekend!

South Texas Day 1

Hello from South Texas! It is so very hot here. I think it was about 80 degrees this morning at 7:00. We arrived yesterday after about 9 hours of driving. We were so ready to get out of the car. It was a long trip.

The dogs were so miserable about the last 4 hours of the trip. We tried to stop as much as we could. They love going on rides but not for 9 hours. They leaped out the truck when we got here.

Jax wouldn't even look at me. I think he was mad at me for making him stay in the car for so long. Ha!

Maribel was a little happier than Jax.

Of course we had to stop and get a Blizzard from Dairy Queen. It wouldn't be a trip to south Texas without one!

After we finally arrived my grandmother made homemade enchiladas! Yum! They are Dustin's favorite so she made them just for him. My aunt and uncle came over for dinner and so did my cousin and his new wife. I didn't get any pictures because I was too busy talking and eating. Ha!

The dogs are having a blast. Lots of new places to explore.

Jax checking things out.

There are tons of little frogs and lizards jumping around. They could keep the dogs entertained for hours.

Tonight we are going over to South Padre Island and are going to eat dinner on the beach. This girl is not getting into a swim suit so there won't be any swimming going on. I haven't been over to the beach in years so I wanted to go check things out. Should be fun. I will try and remember to take pictures so I don't keep boring you with pictures of Jax and Maribel. Ha!

Happy Friday!

Fun Tidbit of the Day

Some of you may know that I work for a title company. For those of you who don't know what a title company is (yes, there are a lot of people out there who don't), we issue title insurance for residential and commercial property. I work on the commercial side but occasionally do residential closings.

This morning my co-worker Stephanie and I (we carpool together) had a closing at some one's home near the town we live in. We occasionally meet people at their homes or some where other than our office depending on the circumstances. I promise the story gets better.

We arrive to this big fancy neighborhood near the lake. We finally find the right house and this house is gorgeous, not to mention big! We ring the door bell and the wife answers. She looks like your normal every day girl. Then her husband walks out, he did not look so normal. He is covered in tattoos (literally from neck to toe) and has bleach blonde hair with red tips. I am thinking to myself, what does this guy do for a living looking like that to afford this big house? Then I thought maybe his wife makes all the money.

Come to find out, he is the lead singer for the band Bowling for Soup. So cool! I know they are not a super famous band but they do have an album or two and a few music videos. Plus I think it was super cool that I was in the home of a semi, kind of sorta, ok...not really celebrity!

.........

We are headed out of town tomorrow for vacation! Woohoo!! I will probably be blogging while I am gone. I will try and keep you updated with lots of pictures. I better go finish packing because we are leaving early tomorrow morning!

Seriously??

Since when did Target get so expensive???

I love this comforter set but seriously, $350???

Dustin and I are getting a new king size bed and so I am searching for new bedding. We are finally upgrading from a queen size bed. Thank goodness because it is way to small for 3 people. Jax is the size of a small human and we just don't fit anymore. Ha!

He really isn't the reason we are getting a new bed. He honestly doesn't take up that much room because he curls into a ball at the foot of the bed. Dustin and I seriously can't sleep. We both feel like we are sleeping on top of each other. He sleeps better in his twin size bed at work than he does at home.

Any ideas on where to shop for new bedding???

A No Good Very Bad Day

This week has not gotten off to a very good start. I am so disappointed and sad. Dustin and I have almost been married a year and I still don't have any pictures from our wedding. Our photographer has been dragging his feet. I only used this photographer because he has worked with my family a lot over the years and I thought that he would be cheaper. From the beginning we could not get a set price from him. I guess that should have been a red flag but again, we have used him so many times over the years for family pictures my parent's and I didn't think too much of it.

We have been working with the photographer to get our wedding album complete without knowing what the total cost would be. Now that we are close to getting the wedding album finished we find out that the album is going to cost $3,000 plus tax. Outrageous!! We have already paid this photographer over $1,200 in fees for our engagement pictures, my bridal portraits and his services for our wedding. We have absolutely no pictures to show for it. I have a couple engagement pictures and one bridal portrait. Maybe where you are from $5,000 for a photographer isn't much but around here it is absolutely ridiculous! To top it all off, he will not give us rights to the pictures. We either have to do the wedding album with him or order prints from him. A 4x6 print is $8. That adds up just as quickly. If you want any other sizes of pictures the cost just increases.

I am so angry and frustrated that I spent most of the day yesterday in tears. My parent's have already spent a lot of money on our wedding and the last thing I want them to have to do is spend another $3,000. Dustin and I just can't afford that right now. I guess this is a lesson learned and BUYER BEWARE! This is has been a very bad start to my week. On the bright side, we are getting out of town for a long weekend and I am looking forward to it.

Does anyone have any horror stories about their photographer or wedding??

Not Me! Monday

Not Me! Monday! Head over to McMamma's blog to play along.

~ I did not shake the food processor so hard and almost threw it across the room on Saturday because I couldn't get it to turn on. Yes it was plugged in but I later discovered that I didn't have it locked in the right position. I would never throw such a tantrum especially in the kitchen. No Not Me!

~ I did not eat a piece of birthday cake, a piece of my strawberry pretzel dessert and a cookie on Saturday. No Not Me! I would never eat that much sugar in one day.

~ I most certainly did not make my husband hang all the pictures for my "wall of pictures" project. I would never make someone else do my project. Not Me!

~ I am not lazy and did not decided not to give my very dirty dogs a bath because I would rather sit on my butt and watch TV. Never!

~ I did not think that my dad was turning a year older than he really was and then announce it to everyone so that they too thought he was a year older than he actually was. Oops! Not Me!

What did you not do this past week?
