Lately

Here's what we've been up to lately.....

* I've been so busy at work I feel like I haven't had much time for anything else. I am off tomorrow and I am looking forward to a day with my family.

* Dustin and I took Grayson to the air show this past weekend. We only got to stay about 2 hours but Grayson really enjoyed watching the airplanes. He loves to point them out to us when we are outside. We wanted to stay longer but Grayson was so ready for a nap.

* I am almost finished with Season One of Friday Night Lights. I love this show. I am hooked!

* We finally moved Grayson's room to our old guest room. It is bigger than his old room. We moved all his toys into his new room. He likes playing in there.

* Dustin and I got a last minute opportunity to go to Game 5 of the World Series. This was a dream come true for Dustin. I was so happy it worked out because it was pretty awesome to see the happiest smile on his face. We attended the game with my co-workers and some good clients of ours. We all had a blast and the Rangers won!!!! I only got a few blurry pictures on my phone.

I don't think there was an empty seat in the ballpark.

* This past Sunday we took Grayson to the pumpkin patch. He is teething and just isn't feeling that great. I only got a few smiles out of him the whole time we were there. He loved walking around looking at everything.

* We finally got some fall weather today. I finally got to wear a sweater and boots. Sadly it probably won't last long.

* I am ready for Halloween on Monday. We aren't doing a whole lot but we plan to attend a Trunk or Treat in our town and hit up a few houses for some candy.

* Last, something that has been weighing on me heavily the past few weeks. Mrs. Lisa, our current child care provider, had some unfortunate events and she has decided to down size the number of kids that she keeps. She decided to keep 5 babies. In case you don't know, Grayson has attended an in-home day care since he was 8 weeks old. I love love love Lisa and I was so upset when she made this decision. We were going to have to move him to a new place next summer anyways because she only kept kids until they were 2 but I am just not ready to move him yet. He is still a baby in my eyes and moving him to a day care program is so scary for me. I have never had to worry about Grayson when he was at Lisa's. He was loved on so much in her care. My first choice of day care program is impossible to get in. I am still keeping my fingers crossed that I can get him in next fall. In the mean time he will be attending the day care program at the church I grew up in. Today was his last day at Mrs. Lisa's. I was in tears when I left today and I am sure there will be lots more tears over the weekend. Next week is going to be hard for me and Grayson. I know he is going to be fine but I am still so worried. Just when I thought I had this working mom thing down this happens. I am saying lots of prayers that the transition will go smoothly for Grayson.

That's all I got for now. Have a great weekend!

SO WHAT! Wednesday

Photobucket

Today I am linking up with Shannon for SO WHAT! Wednesday.

SO WHAT if:

~ I am too lazy to clean my house this week. I have better things to do.

~ I spend ALL my free time lately watching TV. Momma is tired!

~ I let my child eat popcorn, doritos, candy, cheese, crackers and cake for dinner at my sister's birthday party. He wouldn't eat anything else and it made him happy.

~ I ate chicken nuggets with Grayson for dinner when Dustin was at work.

~ I did a little too much shopping last weekend. You can never have too many clothes right?

~ I am super busy at work but I am writing this post instead.

10 Things

I always like reading about people on their blogs. I'm nosy and I like to know about other people and what is going on in their lives. So I decided to post 10 random things about me.

10. I am deathly afraid of water....not water in a swimming pool but large bodies of water. I will not swim in a lake or the ocean. The only way I might swim in the ocean is if I ever get to Hawaii where the water is crystal clear. The thought of even being out on a boat in the ocean terrifies me.

9. My first stay in the hospital was when I gave birth to Grayson. I had never been admitted to the hospital prior to that. Also, I have never broken a bone in my body.

8. I drive a 2010 white Chevy Equinox. I am always curious as to what people drive. Not sure why.

7. I just recently started drinking wine. Gasp! I think I have finally acquired a taste for it. I will only drink white though. Still can't stomach red just yet.

6. I work in real estate. My official title is Escrow Officer. What is that you ask? My company insures title meaning when you close on a home, I close the transaction and issue title insurance. Title insurance is insuring that you have free and clear title to your home. Sounds boring right? Some days it is, I won't lie. I close mainly commercial transactions and I get to work with some major national retailers/restaurants so that is kinda fun.

5. I have been to Africa but I have never been to Disney World. Crazy right? I had the opportunity to go to Europe in high school and we made a day trip to Morocco from Sprain. If I ever go to Africa again (which I likely never will) it will be to South Africa. I WILL go to Disney World some day. We want to take Grayson when he gets old enough to remember going.

4. I don't like vegetables. Bad I know but there is very few that I will eat. My mom used to tell me that even as a baby I would spit them out. She could not get me to eat vegetables of any kind. I am still the same way.

3. I listen to country music. I grew up listening to it and I still listen to it. Sometimes I miss the good ol' days of country music like Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney, Reba McIntire, Brooks and Dunn of the 90's.

2. My all time favorite show is Beverly Hills 90210. I was a sophomore in high school when the series finale premiered. I didn't really get into the show until my senior year of high school though. I could watch re-run after re-run. I think I have seen every episode at least 20 times. Ok maybe not that many times but I have seen them a lot.

1. I have lived in the same town pretty much my whole life. I did go to college in Lubbock at Texas Tech for 2 years but other than that I have lived in the same town.

Lfe Lately

Life has been crazy busy around here! I feel like we never stop going but doesn't everyone feel that way these days? Even though we have been busy we really haven't been up to anything exciting. I wish I could say otherwise though.

A few weekends ago we helped my sister and her husband move into their new house. My sister got a teaching job as a 5th grade math teacher right before the school year started. They were pretty excited that she was now employed and that they bought their first home. This weekend her husband threw my sister a Surprise Birthday party. It was fun but I didn't get any pictures. I was busy chasing a toddler around.

Dustin and I met with an attorney a week or so ago to get a Will set up. Doesn't that sound so exciting? We have been meaning to do it and we finally got it done. I hate thinking about that kind of stuff but since Grayson came along it is necessary. We want to make sure he is in good hands in case something happened to Dustin and I.

We have some fun things planned next month. I can't wait! Some of the things we have planned:

~ Sea Life Aquarium
~ Airshow
~Pumpkin Patch & Hayride
~State Fair (this one is still up in the air)

I bought Grayson's Halloween costume a few weeks ago. I didn't want to spend a ton of money on it because I have a feeling it is going to be hard getting him to keep most of it on. Even though this isn't his first Halloween it kind of feels like it is. He was almost 4 months old last Halloween and we didn't dress him up. I am excited to take him trick or treating this year.

I am so happy Fall TV has started back up again. I am a TV addict. Sometimes it is hard to keep up. I watched some of X Factor the other night. I recorded it in case I want to go back and watch all of it. The jury is still out. To me it seemed just like American Idol. Some of the other shows I am watching this season are: Up All Night, Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, 90210, Parenthood, Whitney and Law & Order SVU. To add to the craziness, I record General Hospital everyday and I am fixing to start watching Friday Night Lights. I don't how I am going to fit it all in. Told ya I was a TV addict.

Dustin and I are hoping to have a date night on Saturday night. I am excited! I don't know what we are going to do. I am trying to think of fun things to do. I was thinking maybe bowling. Just something different than going to the movies. Suggestions are welcome!

I have had the urge to travel lately. I really want to take a trip this fall or in the spring. The problem is I want to go but I don't want to spend the money. Also, I don't think I have enough courage to leave Grayson yet. It would be nice to get a way with my hubby for a few days though.

The high here has still been in the 90's. Ugh. I want so badly for the fall weather to arrive. Keeping my fingers crossed it will arrive within the next few weeks!

Fall Finds

I have been trying to spruce up my fall wardrobe. Last fall we were trying to save as much money as possible in hopes that I was going to be swtiching jobs. The fall before that I found out I was pregnant. Other than buying a few random things here and there I haven't bought any new clothes for fall in about 2 years. I have been itching to buy some new goodies for my closet.

Here are a some things I have picked up from Ann Taylor Loft lately.

I got this shirt in the gray and black stripe.

I got this shirt in the Sea Blue Heather.

I got this one in the color as shown.

I got this one in white.

I have been needing a new black cardigan.

I also picked up some new jeans too. I love the way the Loft's jeans fit me.

Modern Flare Leg jeans. I think the flare leg makes me look skinnier. I also have the shirt that the model is wearing in the picture. My parents got it for me in Chicago. I don't see it on their website anymore though.

Modern Skinny Jeans. I only wear the skinny jeans with boots. They are a lot easier to tuck into boots than a flare leg or boot cut jean. I am curvy girl so I don't think skinny jeans and flats are the right look for me.

I also snagged this cute trench coat on sale at Old Navy for $25.

I got these boots on sale at Kohls the other day. I am not sure if I am going to keep them. I can't decide if I like them or not. To me they look better in person than in this picture.

There are my new fall finds. A lot of the Ann Taylor Loft stuff I got when they were running sales such as 40% off and $25 off every $50 spent. To me their clothes run on the expensive side when you are trying to shop on a budget.

My next task is to buy fall and winter clothes for Grayson. I bought a few things on sale at Kohl's the other day. I only buy clothes for him as the season approaches. I learned very early on that I can't buy clothes for him in advance. I never know what size he will be. I had tons of clothes that I bought before he was born that he never got to wear. The size and season were off.

What are your fall finds?

IF....

One of my favorite bloggers Shannon did this post last week and I thought I would play along.

•If I were to get pregnant again (hopefully not "if" but "when") I would want to do a gender reveal party.
I didn't really know about these when I was pregnant with Grayson.

•If I could have any job in the world I'd be a teacher. I was very close to this happening but stupid budget cuts prevented it. Who knows maybe I will try again someday.

•If I had a day to myself I'd go get coffee from Starbucks and go shopping.

•If I could get married all over again I'd do it all the same. I would maybe change my color scheme but that would be about it. I had a blast at my wedding and honestly I thought it was perfect.

•If I could live anywhere in the US I'd probably live in NYC. I have been there twice and I love it! It is just so facinating and I think it would be cool to hop on the Subway to go to work or go shopping.

•If Grayson were a girl his name would have been Hadley. If I ever get a girl I probably wouldn't name her that now. Sadly the name has become too popular along with the name Grayson. Grrrr!

•If I could have any talent in the world I would like to be able to write...as in write a novel. I think it would be so fun to create any character you want and make up a story. Call me a nerd but I love to read but I also think it would be fun to write. If I could have a second talent it would be to sing. What is there not to love about singing?

•If you met me in real life you would be surprised at how very shy I am.

•If I could go back to school and get a different degree I think I would go into teaching. Or maybe get an English degree. Teaching English would be fun. Yes, I know I am a nerd.

•If money were not an object I'd build a huge house in the country and have horses and cows. Oh and I might go shopping everyday just because in my fantasy money grows on trees.

•If I could meet one celebrity I think I would want to meet Julia Roberts. I have always loved Julia Roberts. I love her movies and she has the craziest laugh.

•If I could only shop at one store for the rest of my life it'd be Target.

•If we get another dog I either want another Boxer or a Bulldog.

•If I could go on a trip, RIGHT NOW, I'd want to go to California. I would start in L.A., then San Diego and then drive up the PCH to San Fran and Napa Valley. This is on my bucket list along with Hawaii.

•If I had to choose between a house cleaner and a personal chef, I'd pick the house cleaner every time. I mean I already have a personal chef.... aka Dustin. :)

•If I had the option of plastic surgery I'd get a boob job. Judge if you want but I have been on the small side my entire life. They didn't even inflate when I was pregnant. It was the one body part that stayed the same size. A boob job is hopefully in my future.

Grayson Update

If there was an award for worst blogger I would win hands down. It's been forever I know. I thought I would do an update on Grayson since it has been forever since he has been featured on this little ol' blog.

He started walking a few weeks after his first birthday in July. With the walking came a new found independence. He wants to do everything himself. He also wants to walk every where. Going places is very difficult these days. He won't sit in a buggie or his stroller. He wants to walk but will sometimes be okay with you holding him instead. Our recent trip to the grocery store resulted in this...

It kept him quiet and he forgot about wanting to walk.

He also wants to be outside ALL THE TIME. We live in Texas, it's HOT! It has cooled off recently which has been nice. We have been going outside in the evenings a lot more. I swear my child would live outside if I let him. Coming inside usually results in a kicking and screaming child.

Grayson also loves the water. One night after eating Spaghetti instead of using a million wipes to clean him up, we took him outside and hosed him off. He loved it!

Grayson is almost 15 months and I can't believe it. He is a mess and I fall in love with him more everyday.

He loves to get in the dryer when I am trying to do laundry.

He is starting to talk more and more. His favorite word is Bobo. Yes I know that is completely crazy. Dustin and I started calling Jax, our male Boxer, Bobo a long time ago. Grayson has caught on that the dogs are Bobo. I swear that is the first word he says in the morning and the last word he says before bed. Crazy kid. He lights up when the dogs come into the room. He loves them so much. He also says Momma, hot, juice, shoes, outside and Mo for Elmo. The kid only has 3 different Elmo's.

He loves to eat.

We haven't entered the picky stage yet and I am hoping we don't. I can tell the things he doesn't like as much though because he doesn't eat very much of it. I have been told that what I make for dinner (or rather what Dustin makes for dinner since I don't cook) is what he will eat. We shouldn't make him something else just because he doesn't like it or eat it. If we start that we will forever be doing that. No, I don't starve my child. I have been sticking by that and luckily he will at least eat some of what we give him if he doesn't like it. Later if he didn't eat very much I will give him some yogurt or some fruit so he doesn't go to bed hungry. We do stick with making things that we know he likes or at least we think he will like if we haven't made it before.

In the mornings while I am getting ready for work I will put him in my bed after he wakes up. He will drink his milk and watch Mickey Mouse. It takes everything I have not to get in bed and snuggle with him. At least I get to snuggle with him on the weekends.

Driving up the drive way at Grandma's house. We went and visited Dustin's mom a few weekends ago and she has a long gravel drive way.

This past Sunday I went over to my parent's house and my dad was out in the garage so naturally Grayson wanted to be out there too. Grumpy sat him on his bike.

Just for my memories:

~ Grayson is wearing 2T shirts and 18 month pants

~ Wearing a size 5 diaper during the day and a size 6 at night

~ Size 6 shoe

~ I don't know his weight since we don't go to the doctor until a few weeks.

I love this little boy more than anything in the world.

This and That Monday

I know your probably tired of these random posts and maybe one day my posts will start having a purpose again. So until then this is what I got. Ok?

After reading The Help I haven't been able to pick up another book. The Help was just so good that I knew  I was going to have a hard time finding another book to read. Last weekend when I went to see the movie The Help there was a preview for this....

I almost started crying during the preview. I think this movie was made for me. Ok not really but I know all the other working moms out there can totally relate to this movie. It comes out next month and I can't wait to see it. The movie is based off the book. So of course I downloaded it to my Kindle and I can't wait to start reading it. Also, I love SJP!

Saturday night Dustin and I watched this...

It was a great movie and I am kicking myself for not reading the book first. I bet the book is fantastic! It was also nice to stare at Matthew McConaughey for two hours and an added bonus...Jake(Reece's estranged husband) from Sweet Home Alabama is in the movie also. Two hot men in one movie. Yes please!!

I am dying to buy Grayson some of these...

Tiny Toms....aren't they adorable? I don't really like the look of Tom's but these are so cute!

I mentioned a while back that we are in the process of moving Grayson to our guest bedroom because it is quite a bit bigger. I want it to be his room/playroom. We finalized the new black out curtains on Saturday and as soon as they are done we are moving him to his new room. I found this on Pinterest the other day and I think this would be super cute in the middle of his room with a cute rug.

I think it would be easy to do. I am totally into the chalk board  phase like everybody else.

This is so totally random but I have been addicted to to this lately...

I have always liked edamame but lately I can't get enough of it. In fact I think I will head to Pei Wei for lunch today and pick some up.

And that's all I got so how do you like that? Any Kellie Rasberry fans out there? Ha! I love the Kiss FM/Kidd Kraddick morning show!

Happy Monday!

Random Thoughts & Movie Review

Gosh I hate thinking of blog titles. Mine are always so uncreative. I have some random thoughts, updates and a movie review I wanted to share.

* This past weekend started off bad but ended up good. I got sick on Friday night...like throwing up sick. I couldn't even tell you the last time I have thrown up. I was up most of the night throwing up and I had the chills. Saturday morning I still felt a little nauseous but I felt lots better. But by lunch time I started to feel awful again. I had a 101 temp and I still had the chills. I laid on the couch the entire day. I did not feel good. I guess I had a 24 hour bug because Sunday I felt lots better.

* I am loving the Bachelor Pad this season. It is weird that I like to watch Bachelor Pad when I don't even watch the Bachelor or Bachelorette. I know who some of the people are in the house but some I don't know who they are. It is still fun to watch. The drama is crazy!

* Speaking of TV, I am so ready for all my shows to start up again. Not too much  longer!!

* My lasik surgery went great. So worth the money. I love not having to mess with contacts or glasses. I still reach for my glasses in the morning out of habit. Only downside to the surgery is I am still not wearing eye makeup and my eyes are blood shot red. The redness is only supposed to last a couple of weeks and I am ready for it to go away. Tired of all the funny stares I get from people.

* Yesterday I met Dustin and Grayson at Bass Pro Shop during my lunch. Dustin needed a few things and it is close to my work. We showed Grayson all the fish. He loved it. I can't wait to take him to the aquarium.

* I joined Pinterest. I don't quite get the concept of it but I am sure I will learn. Not sure I will stick with it but we will see. I used to think that about Twitter and now I love Twitter. I find myself checking it so many times a day. Pinterest really is a nightmare for a non-creative person like me.

* I have already started looking for a Halloween costume for Grayson. Nothing has jumped out at me yet. Why is it that costumes for his age are full head to toe costumes? I have to find something that does not have a head piece. He won't wear it. I can't put anything on his head without him yanking it off.

* I have read lots of post about Life Planners lately. They look really cool but aren't for me. I did order the MyAgenda Mini  from MomAgenda. I have been wanting something small that I can carry in my purse or diaper bag. I use my calandar at work a lot to keep track of everything personal and work related but I wanted something that I could carry with me. I would so rather have a small planner than using my phone to keep track of things. I am not sure why.

* Finally the movie review. I went to see The Help this past Sunday! My kind husband asked if I wanted him to go with me to see it. Yes please! That was so nice of him especially since I knew it wasn't his type of movie. The movie was fabulous! For the most part the story was just like the book. Of course the move was not near as detailed as the book and there were a few minor parts in the movie that were not in the book. The movie was so great and I can't wait to see it again. It is a must see but I do recommend reading the book first.

Where Did My Baby Go?

I was at work yesterday and I received two text messages from Mrs. Lisa, the lady that keeps Grayson. I almost teared up when I opened the messages.

Since when did my baby start sitting at the table with the big kids?

Where did my baby go? That is definitely a big boy sitting at that table.

I tell him every day he needs to stop growing but he doesn't listen. This makes me sad and happy at the same time.

Happy Friday!

Mommy Confessions

All of us Moms have a secret or two. I was shocked when I heard some Mom's confessions on The Today Show.

**********
From article on today.com.......

Every mom has a secret.

“I cry myself to sleep sometimes because I am overwhelmed and I don't feel like I can talk to anyone about it.”
“I honest to goodness do not like my son most of the time and knowing that KILLS me.”

“I believe ice cream for breakfast is not such a bad thing.”

TODAY.com and Parenting.com surveyed more than 26,000 moms about their secrets and confessions – and discovered plenty that doesn’t get discussed at play dates. Even in our post-Oprah, confessional culture, there are some things moms just don’t say out loud.

Sometimes the secrets are things we do:
•Nearly one in five moms admits medicating their child to get through a special event like a plane flight; one in 12 does it just to get some peace and quiet on a regular night.

•Half have knowingly sent a sick kid to daycare or school.

•85 percent use their kids to get out of social obligations.

•Nearly one in three uses work as an excuse to avoid taking care of the kids.

And sometimes the secrets are thoughts we don’t dare tell anyone else:
•44 percent of moms would rather be 15 pounds thinner than add 15 points to their child’s IQ.

•One in four fears their partner is a better parent than they are.

•One in ten wishes their child was the opposite sex – and of those moms, 60 percent have boys.

You can read the full article here.

Shocking right?

I can honestly say I have never wished that Grayson was a girl. Yes, there are times I wish I had a girl so I can dress her in all those cute little dresses and bows but I have NEVER wished Grayson was a girl. However, I may have used Grayson as an excuse a time or two to get out of something I didn't want to do.

I will also admit I may have feared a time or two that Dustin was better with Grayson than I am. We have different relationships with Grayson though. Dustin and Grayson are boys and they play like boys. They rough house and roll around on the floor together. Obviously I don't do that with Grayson. I prefer playing with Grayson and his toys, reading to him and cuddling him. Grayson loves the rough housing so when Daddy is home he prefers to play with Daddy. I am okay with that now.

I have never used work as an excuse to not take care of Grayson. The one thing I struggle with on a daily basis is my guilt over working. I work because I have to not because I choose to. With that being said I enjoy my job though. I would love to stay at home with Grayson but it isn't financially possible for me to stay home. I have accepted this and I am okay with this. It doesn't mean I don't feel guilty though and it doesn't make me a bad mom. I have come to learn that it isn't the amount of time I spend with Grayson it is the amount of quality time I spend with Grayson. If I didn't work I would be stuck at home with Grayson all the time because we wouldn't be able to afford to do anything. We would be prisoners in our home and that would make for a miserable situation for all of us. I want to be able to take Grayson places, buy him things he wants, buy him a car one day and save for his college. We want more children and I want to be able to provide for them also. At the same time Dustin and I have needs too. We want things also. I am not saying I wouldn't sacrifice things to stay home with Grayson but you can only sacrifice so much as a person. Sacrificing everything I have and we have isn't worth it to me. I still don't think that makes me a bad mom.

I will admit that I have left Grayson in a "too wet" diaper before bath time because I didn't want to waste a clean one. I mean if it is almost bath time why not?

I will admit to giving Grayson things he wants just to make him stop crying. For example, his bottle. I don't want to jinx myself but I think we are done with the bottle now. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I will admit I have ignored Grayson crying in his crib a time or two just so I could take a quick shower. At least he is safe in his crib, right?

So there you have it. Some of my Mommy Confessions. Being a mom is the hardest job ever. It seems like there is so much pressure these days to do things a certain way. I think we as mom needs to stop judging each other and support each other. We are all different and we have to do what works for us and our child.

So tell me, what are your Mommy confessions?

Random Things on My Mind

Don't you just love reading lists of random things on people's minds? No? Just me? Oh well, I enjoy it! Here is what is on my mind today.....

1. I finished The Help last night and this has become my favorite book EVER! I loved every word of it. I cried at the end. It was the perfect ending but it definately left me wanting more. If you haven't read it go buy it now. I can't wait to see the movie!

2. I have been so lazy about blogging lately. We went to visit family and went to the beach last week but I have yet to upload the pictures. I always find better things to do...you know like read or watch TV.

3. Dustin and I celebrated our 3 year anniversary on Tuesday. We kept it simple and went to dinner at Trulucks. We enjoyed each other's company but ended up talking mostly about Grayson. We are head over heels in love with our little guy!

4.  And this guy is head over heels in love with Maribel. I swear these two are best friends. They understand each other.

5. I have yet to start on Grayson's "First Year" book. I must get this started ASAP. Before I know it he will be 2 and I will have two books to complete.

6. I can't believe it is already August. Before I know it, it will be Christmas.  Wasn't Christmas a month ago? I know I say this a lot but time seems to just fly by these days.

7. We had a grand opening celebration for our office this past Tuesday. We technically have been open for business since the beginning of April but we waited until the office was up and running to have our grand opening. We all had a great time!

Ribbon cutting with the local Chamber of Commerce. We did it inside because the actual temperature was 110 and it felt like it was 120 outside.

8. After this weekend I don't have any plans for the rest of August. It is weird looking at my calendar and seeing it so empty. I am loving it though!

9. I am having lasik eye surgery tomorrow. I am excited and nervous. I am ready to kiss these itchy, burning contacts goodbye though. Downside, I can't wear eye make-up for a week. I already warned my co-workers so that I wouldn't scare the hell of out them when I walk in on Monday morning. Trust me, it will be a scary sight.

10. I am so glad it is almost the weekend!

Weekend & Summer Reading

Our weekend was pretty boring. We did go to the movies on Friday night with our friends Kelsie & Drew. We saw Friends with Benefits. It was funny as in we all laughed out loud multiple times during the movie. As you would expect from the title it is dirty and raunchy. Saturday I went shopping with my mom and got Grayson some new shoes. He is starting to walk and he needed a good pair of shoes. Yesterday we went to breakfast and then came home. I cleaned, did laundry and started packing for our trip.

This weekend I started reading this...

I can't put it down. I literally can't wait for this evening so I can pick it up again. I wasn't sure if I would even like this book but I am so glad I tried it. From the first chapter it had me hooked and a lot of books take a while for me to get in to. I am excited for the movie even though I know it won't compare to the book. The movies never do.

I recently read this...

I have read a few of Elin Hilderbrand's books and they are easy reads. I really liked this book and it was an easy read. The one thing I didn't like was how it ended only because it left me wanting more. Maybe it was meant to end that way.

I also read this...

I love reading murder mystery/thriller/suspense type books. This one isn't technically a mystery but it kept me on the edge of my seat. I could not put this down because I had to keep reading to find out what was going to happen next. The beginning was a little slow and it took me a little while to get into it. After the first couple of chapters it had me hooked.
Warning: This book has lots of language and provocative scenes.

The next book on my list that I want to read...

I haven't seen the movie and I want to read the book first. I heard the book was really good. Have any of you read it? What were your thoughts?

If you have read any good books please let me know. I am always looking for new books to read.

What We've Been Up To

The past couple of weeks have been busy. This summer is flying by. Here is what we have been up to in no paticular order.....

1. Grayson started swim lessons this past week. He is having fun but they are exhausting. We go in the evening after I get home from work. He is usually so tired at that time and so am I. They are fun but I will be glad when they are over.

2. Grayson and I went on a date this past Friday night. He took me to Chick Fil A. I think this was the first time that Grayson and I have been to a restaurant just the two of us. I played it safe and stuck to Chick Fil A. They are kid friendly so if he started throwing food every where I was safe.
3. Grayson got his first hair cut. I have been meaning to take him for quite some time to get his hair trimmed. His hair was pretty long in the back and it hung over his ears quite a bit. He did really well. Poor Kaylie had a hard time though. Every time she would start to snip he would whip his head around to see what she was doing.

4. We took family pictures a week ago with Kendall Stoy Photography and I can't wait to see them! I saw a sneak peak this weekend and I know they are going to be fabulous!

5. Grayson is into everything these days. He still isn't walking yet. He will walk as long as he is holding onto something but the minute he lets go he crawls. I was making dinner for him the other night and I look down to see this. No, I don't have a lock on this cabinet but I am starting to think I need a lock on all the cabinets now. He won't stay out of the ones that he can open.

6. I have a consulation with a lasik eye surgeon this week. My contacts drive me crazy. They make my eyes really dry and they burn. I still have to squint sometimes with my contacts in. I know I could wear glasses everyday but I have had glasses since elementary school and I hate them. They just aren't me. I am really scared about having surgery on my eyes. I know it is blade free but still. If anyone has any advice please leave me a comment. I know several people who have it done and they have no regrets. Hoping it all works out for me.

7. We are going to the beach in a little over a week. I am not looking forward to the 9 hour car ride with Grayson. If you have any advice on this please share. He hates the car and we turned his car seat around a month ago. He does a lot better but he still fusses a lot even on short rides.

8. Our 3 year anniversay is in 2 weeks. We aren't doing anything special. We will probably just go out to eat. I told Dustin no gifts this year.

I don't know about yall but I am sick of this heat. We have had 15 straight days of 100+ degree heat. I have never been one to complain when the weather gets cold. I know we still have at least 3 months to go with all this heat. Hurry up cold weather. I miss you!

Birthday & 4th of July

I had one sick baby this weekend but it still managed to be a busy weekend. I was so sad that Grayson was sick on his 1st birthday and for the 4th. We still managed to have a good time though.

Grayson woke up with a fever on Saturday morning and he slept almost the entire day. I was so sad that we didn't get to do anything fun for his birthday. We were going to go to the waterpark. That evening my parent's and Dustin's mom and sister came over for dinner. Grayson woke up in time to celebrate his birthday. We ate dinner and cookie cake.

Yummy cookie cake from Central Market

He loved the icing!

On Sunday Grayson was feeling even worse. We went to Olive Garden for lunch and Grayson slept the rest of the day. I felt so bad for him. Later that evening his fever had gone down and he started to feel a little better. He even wanted to help Daddy decorate his wagon for the parade.

He went to bed pretty early and we had to be up early for the parade. The parade started at 9 and we had to be there by 8:30 to line up. Grayson woke up with a fever but I was determined for him not to miss the parade. I know I definitely won't win mom of the year. I was hoping once we got there he would perk up a little. No such luck though. He was a trooper through the parade. The parade was pretty short anyways.

Riding in the wagon....I can't really take credit for the wagon. I put the garland around the rails but Dustin pretty much did the rest. He put a lot of time into it and I thought it was so sweet. That was another reason I didn't want to miss the parade. Dustin was so excited about decorating the wagon for Grayson and he did a great job!

By the end of the parade he was ready to go home. We came home and he slept the rest of the afternoon. I am probably going to take him to the doctor in the morning if he isn't feeling better. He finally ate some watermelon tonight for dinner. I hate when my baby is sick.

We had a great weekend despite Grayson being sick. I hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July. God bless America!
