Thanksgiving 2010

Gosh the holidays sure fly by fast. We had a great Thanksgiving and I am still stuffed! Our Thanksgiving started last weekend when we celebrated with Dustin's family.  His side of the family came to our house and we did things a little non-traditional.  We grilled hamburgers and made homemade potato salad and beans.  Since we were celebrating early and everyone was going to get their fair share of turkey this week, we decided non-traditional was the way to go.

Thanksgiving morning Grayson and I watched the Macy's Thanksgiving parade and then we got ready and headed to my parent's house.  Unfortunately Dustin had to work.  My sister, both sets of my grandparents and my uncle were there.  We all stuffed ourselves with fried turkey and dressing. It was so good!

After we ate we watched the Cowboy game and scoured the black Friday sale ads.

Later that afternoon Grayson and I headed to the fire station to have Thanksgiving dinner with Dustin. I didn't get any pictures and Grayson slept the whole time. It was a fun time had by all.  The guys cooked the turkey and all the wives brought a side dish.

Friday morning I was not up bright and early. I'm not much of a black Friday shopper. There was only one thing I wanted to get Dustin for Christmas and luckily my dad was getting up super early and going to the same place. He got it for me. We did venture out to the mall later. It was super packed of course. I went with the intentions of getting some Christmas shopping done but I ended up shopping for myself.  I couldn't help it. There were some great deals! We were exhausted when we got home and Grayson had the right idea.

We went for Mexican food for dinner and called it a night.  Saturday we slept in, thank you Grayson! After we got up and moving we went to lunch at Twisted Root Burger.  It was so good. They were featured on The Food Network's Diners, Dives & Drive-Ins.

After that we headed to Garden Ridge to get some Christmas decorations for the house. We came home and Dustin put up the lights outside while I put up the Christmas tree.  All my Christmas stuff is up.  Now all I need is presents to go under the tree.

Dustin had to work today and Grayson and I have done nothing all day! It has been fabulous.  I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I know we did!

Christmas Wish List

I can't believe that Christmas will be here in just a little over a month.  Heck, I can't believe Thanksgiving is in 2 weeks.  Time just flys by these days.  This year I am not so concerned with my wish list.  I am more concerned with Grayson's Christmas list.  Yes I know he is still way to young to have his own Christmas list but I can't wait to surprise him with a few things from Santa on Christmas morning!

This year my family really isn't buying for each other.  We are mainly going to buy for Grayson.  Talk about one spoiled little boy!  But just for fun here is my wish list.

Jessica Simpson Ruffle Me Faux Leather Tote

I have read every book in the Shopaholic series by Sophie Kinsella.  This book came out in September and pre baby days I would have already snatched this up and finished it in about two days.  Now I never set foot in a book store (which makes me very sad).  Between work and taking care of Grayson I never have time to read anymore.  If I do have a spare moment I'm so tired that I would be asleep before I could even finish reading a page.  I still would like to receive this book because one day I will read it.

This one is more of a like than a want.  I love this navy blue military coat from Ann Taylor Loft.  I love the coat but not so much the price.  I am really into dark blues and purples right now.  This coat comes in deep navy and eggplant. If I had extra money laying around this would definitely be on my must have list.  But let's face it, who has extra money lying around? Not me! And besides, this is Texas and it rarely gets cold enough for a coat like this.

I have been wanting a pair of low wedge boots.  I really hope these appear under the Christmas tree this year.  Hint Hint Dustin.....I know you read this blog. Ha!

And just for fun, this is the # 1 item on Grayson's Christmas List this year!

I can't wait until he is old enough to go riding in this wagon.  We are going to use it in my sister's wedding in May.  Grayson is the ring bearer and since he probably won't be walking then he will come down the aisle in style!

Tis the Season

One of my favorite things about Christmas time is going to the mail box each day and receiving Christmas cards!  There is something so fun about receiving mail the old fashioned way.  I started sending out Christmas cards after Dustin and I got married. The past two years I have used Shutterfly.  They have a really great selection at a really great price.  Their website is easy to use, the ordering is simple and the service is fast.  The quality of their cards is exceptional and I was pleased with their products.  This year Shutterfly is offering 50 free holiday cards to bloggers.  What a great deal!

Before I even saw this promotion I had already checked out their site in search of this year's Christmas card.  Shutterfly is also a great place to go for your other needs like photo books, stationary and calendars. Their broad selection definitely makes it hard to choose.  Since a lot of my family and friends read my blog I am going to post the runner ups to this year's Christmas card.

4 Months

Grayson you turned 4 months old on November 2.  I know I say this everytime but I really can't believe it.  You change everyday and before I know it you will be leaving for college.  Ok not really but if you keep growing like you are it will seem that way. 

We went to your 4 month check up appointment on November 3 and you weigh 18 pounds 2 ounces.  I think that put you in the 90th percentile.  You are 26 inches long.  You wear size 6 to 9 month clothes and you are quickly growing out of those.  I have to buy your pants big because otherwise they are way to short for you.  You are still in a size 3 diaper.

Last week we started rice cereal. 

It took you a little while to get used to it but you loved it!

I can't believe how big you are getting.  This week we started vegetables.  It is really funny watching you make faces.  You will eat an entire jar of Stage 2.  You sure are a hungry boy!

It is pretty difficult to feed you though.  You are constantly putting your hands in your mouth or your bib.  Usually when we are finished you have food all over your hands, mouth, cheeks, nose and eyes.  We started feeding you in your diaper because you are so messy.

You still aren't sleeping through the night but thats okay.  I can't keep you up past 8:00 every night.  You would probably go to sleep earlier if I would let you.  If I could just keep you up a little later I think you would only get up once a night instead of 2. I can't keep you off your tummy.  If you are on the floor you immediately roll to your tummy.  You sleep on your tummy also.  Sometimes you get frustrated when I lay you in your crib because I try to swaddle you before you roll to your tummy.  I guess I am not fast enough for you.   

The other night we watched the video of you when you were born.  It is really hard to believe that was just 4 months ago. I love watching you grow and change every day.  I love you so much!

Fun Weekend

This weekend flew by but it was a fun one.  I wish that I gained an hour of sleep with the time change but when you have children the time change means nothing.  Luckily Grayson did better than I thought.  His sleep patterns are so random I was worried the time change would really mess with his sleep. So far so good but I may be jinxing myself.

Friday night we went to dinner with some friends.  We ate at BJ's Brewery.  It was yummy!  We ended up having to rush out of there though because Grayson was a having a full melt down by the end of dinner.  He was tired and cranky.  I was worried everyone around us was going to start giving us dirty looks if we didn't get out of there quick. Of course when we got home he was happy as could be.  He is such a little stinker.

Saturday Grayson slept until 9:30...Praise the Lord!  We had a lazy morning and then we went and ate lunch at 5 Guys.  It is a new burger place that just opened up.  It was so busy but we managed to get in and out of there quick.  Then we ran some errands.  Saturday night my family and Dustin's family came over to our house.  We made grilled chicken, homemade macaroni and cheese, salad and bread.  It was delicious!  It kind of felt like Thanksgiving having everybody together. 

Yesterday I tried to sleep in again but Grayson was up at 7.  I cleaned out his closet and drawers of all the clothes that are too small for him.  It was so sad.  I realized he will never be able to wear those clothes again.  He is growing way too fast.  Later that day we got ready to go watch Dustin play in the annual Colleyville Firefighter vs. Cops softball game.

Grayson had a good time and he kept looking at everyone and smiling.  We had to leave before the game was over because it got too cold.  We had fun cheering on Daddy!

Now it is Monday again. Boo! I am already ready for next weekend.  Dustin is off the entire weekend.  I think we may try to squeeze in a date night.
