Dinner at the Firehouse

Tonight all the significant others were invited to dinner at the Firehouse. Dustin's Lieutenant Eddie asked his wife to come up to the station and make chicken spaghetti for everyone. It was a lot of fun. Everyone helped in the kitchen and then we all sat down and ate like a big family. The chicken spaghetti was yummy. Eddie's wife Angela brought their 6 month old son and he was adorable. He kept everyone entertained. I didn't get any pictures of him though. Actually I had forgotten all about taking pictures until after dinner. We got lucky because the guys didn't get a single call while we there!
It was a fun night and fun to hang out with Dustin at work. I hope we all do it again soon.

Bookworm

On Wednesday of this week when we had the ice storm I went to the mall with my mom to get out of the house after some of the ice melted. One of my favorite stores is Barnes & Noble. I went inside to find myself a good book (for those of you that don't know me well I love to read....yes I am a nerd!). While I was in there I came across a new author (new to me anyways)....Holly Chamberlin. She has several books out. I bought one of her books called The Friends We Keep.

I am only 100 pages into it but I can't put it down. It is about 3 old friends from college reuniting after more than 20 years. What starts as a warm reunion soon gives way to old insecurities, hidden passions, romantic misadventures, new secrets, and shocking betrayal. If you like to read I definitely recommend this book. This is the next book of hers that I will be reading next.

I thought I would share these books because I love to read but I get so overwhelmed with all of the books in Barnes & Noble that it is hard to choose. And I am always looking for a good book!

Snow Day or shall we call it Ice Day...

Yesterday the weather people siked everyone out thinking the weather was going to get bad. I got lucky was able to "work from home" yesterday so I didn't have to drive to Dallas. I kind of felt silly because it didn't do anything yesterday and the roads were fine but I enjoyed my day off from work though.

Dustin was home too and we made pancakes for breakfast and then snuggled up and watched TV. Later we watched a movie and then more TV. It was great. I was totally bored by the end of the day but we never just have a lazy day where we watch TV all day and don't get out of our pj's.

Last night the weather obviously started getting worse. Dustin is on shift today so he had to leave last night at about 9:30 to head to work. He was just going to stay the night at the station. He can't be late for his shift no matter what. This morning the roads are much worse and I was hoping for another "work from home" day but it doesn't look like that is going to happen. I will be heading in to work about 10:30 this morning. The ice days were fun but I think I enjoy much warmer weather!!! Can't wait for Spring!!

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Brownies....Yum!!!

I was bored last night so I started looking at random people's blog in which I came across a blog called Bakerella. It is a cool blog and in case you couldn't guess....it is about baking. I don't like to cook but I don't mind baking. I have been trying to find a recipe for a new dessert that I could make for Bunco next month. On this blog I found a recipe for Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Brownies. They look so good. I thought I would share the recipe and the cool blog with everyone.

I will be making these next month at Bunco so I will let you know how they turn out. I haven't gotten the chance to look through the entire Bakerella blog but it looked like there were some good ideas. Anyways....here is the website if you want to check it out.

Welcome to the Main Event!!!!

This past Saturday night Dustin and I went out to eat with a group of friends for Angela's and Randi's Birthday. Angela is the wife of Eddie, who is Dustin's Lieutenant, and Randi is the wife of Jeremy, who is also a firefighter on Dustin's shift. We went to eat at Cantina Laredo and then we all went over to Main Event to go bowling. I haven't been to Main Event since high school and I hadn't been bowling in probably over a year. We had lots of fun. As much as I tried to beat Dustin, he beat me at every game. In fact he beat everyone. Here are a few pictures I took.....

We had a lot of fun and it made me want to go bowling more often. Did you hear that Kels??? We should go bowling soon!!!

Update on Life.....

Not a lot has been happening in the Wynn household. It has been a slow start to the new year. I personally think January is a boring month anyways and I am ready for February. The Super Bowl is the first weekend in February and the second weekend I am attending Crop for the Cure at the Corinth Elementary School. I have been meaning to start on my wedding scrapbook I just haven't gotten around to it. I am going with my good friend Stephanie for a full day of scrapbooking and craft making. It should be a lot of fun. Then there is Valentine's Day. I am not too big into this holiday but it is fun to recognize it and do something sweet for your loved one. Maybe I will make a cute Valentine for Dustin this year!

This weekend was fun and relaxing. On Saturday I went to Hobby Lobby (my favorite store) and I picked up a few things to finish decorating the kitchen with. I am having Bunco at my house next month and I am trying to finish up a few decorating ideas. Saturday night Dustin and I went to Studio Movie Grill in Addison with our good friend Matt and his fiance Miranda. We saw Gran Torino with Clint Eastwood. This was obviously Matt and Dustin's choice of movie. Surprisingly it was a great movie. It was funny and Miranda and I both cried at the end. It was totally not what I was expecting. Sunday we did the usual... went to church, then out to eat with my family and then came home and watched the football game.

I am already ready for next weekend and it isn't even Monday yet! Next Saturday we are going out to eat with Dustin's Lieutenant Eddie and his wife and Jeremy and his wife and then we are going to Main Event to play laser tag. I will try and remember my camera so I can post some fun pictures!

New Year's Resolutions.....

I usually don't make New Year's Resolutions but this year I did. I have gained a few extra pounds since I got married in August so it is time to loose them! I am starting Slim Fast...yesterday was my first day....and I suddenly remembered why I don't make resolutions....I never stick to them. I thought I was going to die of hunger pains yesterday. It doesn't help that your husband can sit down and eat anything he wants right in front of you while you are eating this tiny meal bar that is supposed to fill you up for 4 hours. Yea right!! I think after 30 minutes my stomach was growling. I am really going to try and stick to it for a little while. I don't need to loose a whole lot but I do have a bridesmaids dress that I need to fit in by May.

Speaking of weddings....this is going to be a busy year of weddings for Dustin and I. We have 2 weddings back to back in March. Our friends Jeremy & Serenda and Josh & Heather are getting married. I am in Angela's wedding in May and Dustin's best friend Matt is getting married towards the end of the year. I actually hope that this is a busy year. I had so much to look forward to in 2008 with the wedding and building our house.

Both of our resolutions this year is to save more money and go on vacation. Dustin already has a few shifts off in August and we are hoping to take a trip somewhere. We are looking into Cabo San Lucas, Jamaica, or keeping it simple and taking a road trip to California or Colorado. I really wish we could afford Hawaii but I am not getting my hopes up. It is so expensive.

I will have to blog and let you know how this Slim Fast thing goes. Right now it is not looking too good! Happy New Year from the Wynn Family!!!!
