Swine Flu

Are any of you as worried about this swine flu thing as I am? At first I didn't really think it was that big of deal. I thought it was just the media blowing everything out of proportion like the usually do. I think it is really getting serious. I got an e-mail today, I tried to look it up on Snopes.com but I couldn't find anything. It is supposedly from a Dr. Marc Gitterle who is an ER doctor in Wimberley, TX.

In the e-mail were the following statements:

"During the night, we crossed the threshold for the definition of a WHO, Phase 6 global pandemic. This has not happened in any of our lifetimes so far. We are in uncharted territory."

" I expect President Obama will declare an emergency sometime in the next 72-96 hours. This may not happen, but if it doesn't, I will be surprised. When this happens, all public gathering will be cancelled for 10 days."

"I suggest all of us avoid public gatherings. Outdoor activities are not as likely to lead to infection. It is contained areas and close contact that are the biggest risk."

This is crazy! I have also read some articles that there is no relation or link to pigs. Where they got the name "swine flu" is beyond me. Supposedly WHO (does anyone know what this stands for?) has been asked to rename this virus as there has been no association between pigs and the virus found in humans.

You know it must be really serious when entire school districts are shutting down. They are even closing their doors during the TAKS test. You know it must be serious.

I am scared to go to the zoo on Saturday. Are any of you cancelling plans over this? Maybe I am just paranoid.

Wordful Wednesday

I can't believe it is already Wednesday again! You know the drill, if you want to play along head over to Seven Clown Circus.

I know that I talk about my dogs a lot, but they are my children at the moment. I just love them dearly. I am dedicating this post to Jax. I will have to do another one on Maribel soon.

Just look at that face! This is what Jax looks like when he is laying on his back. His jowls are so big that they just flop over when he is upside down. He loves to lay on his back. He will lay in the middle of the living room floor on his back and he is perfectly content. He cracks me up.

Jax loves the bathtub. This was taken a year or two ago, he would always run and jump into the bathtub if he knew you were going to the bathroom. He loves getting baths. I never have to force him into the tub he just hops right in. His favorite thing to do is drink all the water coming out of the faucet. Such a cutie! I love the expression on his face.

Happy Wednesday!

Most challenging goal now- Can't tell you right now but let me just tell you it is a major challenge.

One who tagged you- No one....I saw this on someone else's blog....it looked fun so now I am doing it.

100th Post With NO Pictures...

Yep, it is my 100th post! I don't have any pictures to share. There just wasn't anything that went on this weekend that was blog worthy. I have done absolutely nothing.

Our plans on Friday fell through so we just went to dinner and went to look at vacuums. Exciting I know. Saturday, Dustin worked and I ran a few errands with my mom. Today we did the usual, went to church, went to lunch and then went to the grocery store. See I told you it wasn't blog worthy.

I do have a funny story...well funny to me. Dustin worked on Saturday and it was a pretty slow day. They usually don't do anything on the weekends around the station except for run calls if they get any. Since it was slow they decided to go garage saleing (is that a word??) after they ate lunch on Saturday. All 3 of them hopped in the fire truck and went to a few garage sales nearby. I started laughing when he told me because I got a mental picture of the fire truck pulling up to the garage sale. Dustin didn't buy anything but he said his lieutenant bought a few things. Too funny!

Have a great rest of the weekend!

Double White Lines

I work in Dallas and live near Denton which is about 35 miles north of Dallas. It takes about an hour each way to and from work with traffic. Fortunately I carpool with my co-worker Stephanie. We live about 5 minutes from each other. Each day we take turns driving.

The perk of getting to carpool is we get to use the HOV (High Occupancy Vehicle) lane. You can enter and exit the HOV lane at certain places. The HOV lane is divided by double white lines from the regular lanes of traffic. You can only enter and exit when there are dashed white lines. Those of you that live in Texas know all this but this is for readers who don't live in Texas. Do they have HOV lanes in other states?

Moving on, Steph and I are always crossing over the double white lines. I don't want to have to sit in traffic just to get to one of the entrances. It could take forever. I was just thinking the other day that one of us is bound to get pulled over sooner or later. We only cross the double white lines at least 4 times a day to and from work.

I must have jinxed us because yesterday Steph gets pulled over for crossing the double white lines. Darn those motorcycle cops! Luckily he was a nice policeman. We were on LBJ Freeway (the busiest freeway in Dallas). We were even stopping traffic on the opposite side of the freeway. You know, everyone always has to slow down when something is going on on the side of the road.

Steph must have really good luck because the cop gave her a WARNING! If it were me, I would have gotten the ticket even with my fire department sticker on my car! Steph's husband is a fireman too and she has her sticker on her car. I think it came in handy yesterday! Thank goodness! I have gotten 3 speeding tickets in my lifetime and I have always gotten a ticket. Never a warning. What about you? Do you have good luck when getting pulled over?

So glad it is Friday but I am a little bummed. Dustin and I were going to go to The Glass Cactus tonight to watch The Josh Weathers Band play. His good friend Josh is the lead singer and he also sang at our wedding. Our plans fell through because Josh is not the lead gig tonight and it costs $25 to get in. Josh will only get to play for an hour and it is not worth paying $50 bucks for the both of us to get in. That is crazy! So now we have no plans. Looks like we might be staying in tonight.

Have a good weekend friends!

Fair well Kirby....

Fair well Kirby....we will miss you! Yes, Dustin and I were the owners of a Kirby vacuum for 3 days before my husband decided it was not the smartest purchase he has ever made. Let me start from the beginning......

This past Saturday I was out running errands and when I came home I found my husband and a Kirby vacuum salesman in my living room. My immediate thought, oh great my husband's newest endeavour. I think my husband must have SUCKER written across his face. He always seems to get himself in situations with salesmen, especially salesmen of products we don't need.

I got home at the end of the salesman's demonstration but I was pretty impressed by this vacuum. I could not believe the dirt that came out of our carpet and our mattress after only living in our house for 8 months. Our house is brand new. Obviously our old vacuum was not getting the job done. I vacuum at least once a week. As you all probably know, Kirby vacuums are expensive so expensive that you can finance them.

I will just say that even though I was really impressed by this vacuum I didn't want it. It was way too expensive. I could think of so many more important things I could spend our money on....shoes, clothes, make-up, getting my hair done....you know the important things. I could tell from the look on my husband's face that he really wanted this vacuum. I could see the wheels churning in his head. Being the loving wife that I am, I told my husband it was up to him while secretly praying he would say no. I think the salesman had cast a spell him. The salesman wasn't too pushy but he definitely was hovering. I couldn't really tell my husband what I was thinking because the salesman wouldn't go away.

So after we kept looking at each other and saying, what do you want to do, my husband caved and we ended up putting a down payment on the Kirby and financed the rest. I was not going to tell anyone about this. I was so embarrassed that we just financed a vacuum, regardless of how good of a vacuum it was. The salesman left, a very happy salesman I might add, and we were left with our new, expensive Kirby vacuum.

We cleaned the house from top to bottom that night with the new device. Dustin had a huge smile on his face. Well thank goodness God hears my prayers because Dustin called me yesterday and says, I don't think we should have bought this vacuum. Hallelujah! I almost lept out of my chair at work. On our Contract there was a 3 day cancellation policy. Dustin returned the Kirby yesterday and we are free from all our obligations under the Contract. Now, I have a huge smile on my face! Needless to say the salesman was not too happy with us when we called to return the vacuum. He became quite the opposite of the nice man that sold it to us.

I wasn't going to blog about this because I was really embarrassed over this whole ordeal. I know there are probably lots of people out there that have Kirby vacuums and I can bet that your houses are super clean but it was just way too much money for me to spend on a vacuum. I am so glad that I am not the owner of a Kirby vacuum anymore. Maybe one day down the road when Dustin and I are making millions....okay that is never going to happen...but seriously maybe one day when we are more established financially.

Fair well Kirby until next time.

Wordful Wednesday

Wordful Wednesday! Head over to Seven Clown Circus to play along!

I decided to make this post about friends! Everybody has to have friends! Here is a picture of me and my best friends....minus Kelsie. This picture was taken at my bridal shower last May. These girls are fabulous and I was honored that they were my bridesmaids.

From left to right: My sister Nadalee, April, Me, Jennifer and Angela. As I just mentioned Kelsie was one of my bridesmaids too but for some reason she didn't get in the picture. I have known April and Jennifer since kindergarten and we have remained close all these years. I still talk to both of them on a regular basis and see them often. Kelsie, I have known since middle school and I was roommates with Angela in college. Angela is getting married in May and I am in her wedding.

I can't remember a time when these girls were not a part of my life. We have grown up together and have always been there for each other over the years. It is so fun to be there for each other as we each go through life changing events. We are all slowly getting married and next it will be babies! I am so blessed to have such wonderful people in my life!

P.S. ~ Thank you for all the advice yesterday on the sunless tanning. I will for sure be getting it done now. I was really nervous when I first thought about it but it sounds like everyone has had good experiences. I have Bunco tonight which I am excited about. Yea for being Wednesday! Two more days until the weekend!

Orange for Stellan

If you follow McMamma's blog you know that Stellan made it through surgery! We are praying for Stellan in the Wynn household and Jax & Maribel wanted to show their support!

They are wearing their orange for Stellan. Please continue to pray for baby Stellan!

Sunless Tanning???

Has anyone ever done sunless tanning or spray tanning? I am in a wedding next month and I was thinking of getting a spray tan from a tanning salon. I have always tanned in the past but I recently have started worrying about skin cancer and I have decided to stop using tanning beds.

A good friend of my parents, their daughter recently got diagnosed with skin cancer. One of her moles was malignant. I have quite a few moles on my body....sorry if this is TMI. Some I have had since birth and others I have developed over the past couple of years. After hearing what happened to her I started paying closer attention to mine. A few have me a little worried but I am sure it is nothing. I am going to the dermatologist next week. I have decided it is probably best to just stay out of tanning beds all together.

I want to be tan for the wedding. My legs are pretty white and we are wearing black dresses. If any of you have ever done mystic tan or a type of spray tanning will you let me know if your experience was good or bad? I plan on getting it done right before the wedding so it lasts and I don't want it to be a disaster. I don't want to be the orange blotchy girl in all the pictures. Ha!

Some Internet Shopping For My Monday Blues

I hate Mondays....I really do. I think it is the fact that I know that I have 5 whole days of work before the weekend. I think the thought of work just makes me tired. I had plenty of sleep this weekend but for some reason I am so tired today.

I did a little Internet shopping when I got to work this morning. Shopping will cheer any girl up, right? My co-worker Steph, we carpool together everyday, had ordered some stuff from a place called Body Central. Some of their stuff is a little sleazy looking but they also have some really cute stuff. I ordered a shirt and a cute dress to wear on my trips this summer.

I ordered this dress to wear to the beach this summer when we go to South Padre.

I ordered this cute shirt to wear out.

Their stuff is very reasonably priced. Then at lunch Steph and I made a quick shopping trip to a few places including Gap. I didn't buy anything but I really want these sandals. I may just have to go back and get them.

What are your favorite shopping picks right now?

Happy Monday!

Weekend Rewind

It is has been such a fun but not too eventful weekend. Just the way I like it! I guess I will start from the beginning....

Friday night Dustin and I had date night and we went to eat at 2 new places in town. We went to eat at Palio's Pizza and then we went to Yogurt Story. Yogurt Story is new yogurt place in Denton and they have about 8 different flavors of yogurt and then you can put whatever you want on it and you pay by the ounce. It just opened up here in Denton and it was so yummy!

Dustin does not like sweet stuff. He would rather eat fruit than cake or ice cream. I can never get him to go get ice cream with me. He was willing to go try the new yogurt place. He loved it! He got strawberry yogurt and added real strawberries and bananas. It was right up his alley. I got cookies and cream yogurt and added oreos and sprinkles. As Dustin said, I am just like a little kid!

Here we are on our way to dinner. It is horrible picture but I am posting it anyways.

Here is our yummy yogurt!

Saturday I slept in...like really slept in....I slept until 9:30 am. I was so shocked because I usually never sleep past 8:30 on the weekends. It felt great because I was so exhausted from this past week. Dustin and I made a quick trip to Wally World and then I headed to my friend Jennifer's house. She has been sick so I went to hang out with her for a little while. Before I left to go to her house, Jax & Maribel were up at the front door making all kinds of commotion. I went up to see what was going on and I saw this:

A duck in our front yard. It was the weirdest thing. We live really close to a lake so it must have flown over from the lake. It just waddled back and forth across our yard tormenting Jax & Maribel.

The picture is kind of dark. I couldn't get the flash to go off for some reason.

Saturday night we did a repeat of Friday night except we went with my parents. They wanted to try the new pizza place and yogurt place. Dustin and I really liked it so we didn't mind going again. This time I got peanut butter yogurt with Reese's pieces and chocolate chips and Dustin got the Georgia peach yogurt and added fresh strawberries, banana and pineapple. Don't judge us please for eating yogurt twice in one weekend. At least it was yogurt and not ice cream. It was a little less fattening! Then we came home and cleaned the house from top to bottom. We had to get a new vacuum cleaner and it works great.

Today Dustin is at work so not much is going on. I have some things I need to get done around the house and then it's Sunday night TV. Desperate Housewives and Brothers & Sisters is all new tonight!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

A Good Laugh For Your Friday

Today has been a crazy busy day and it is only 10:00 am! I am super excited about tonight. Dustin and I are having date night and we are going to try out 2 new places in town! I wish it wasn't all dark and rainy here today. Yuck! At least it is Friday! In case you couldn't tell I love the weekends! Who doesn't right???

I got this funny e-mail the other day and thought it would be great to post. I think we can all agree that some times men just have a good reason to be happier!

WHY MEN ARE NEVER DEPRESSED:

Men Are Just Happier People-- What do you expect from such simple creatures? Your last name stays put. The garage is all yours. Wedding plans take care of themselves. Chocolate is just another snack. You can never be pregnant. You can wear a white T-shirt to a water park. You can wear NO shirt to a water park.

Car mechanics tell you the truth. The world is your urinal. You never have to drive to another gas station restroom because this one is just too icky. You don't have to stop and think of which way to turn a nut on a bolt. Same work, more pay. Wrinkles add character. Wedding dress $5000. Tux rental-$100. People never stare at your chest when you're talking to them. New shoes don't cut, blister, or mangle your feet. One mood all the time.

Phone conversations are over in 30 seconds flat. You know stuff about tanks. A five-day vacation requires only one suitcase. You can open all your own jars. You get extra credit for the slightest act of thoughtfulness. If someone forgets to invite you, he or she can still be your friend.

Your underwear is $8.95 for a three-pack. Three pairs of shoes are more than enough. You are unable to see wrinkles in your clothes. Everything on your face stays its original color. The same hairstyle lasts for years, maybe decades. You only have to shave your face and neck. You can play with toys all your life. One wallet and one color for all seasons.

You can wear shorts no matter how your legs look. You can 'do' your nails with a pocket knife. You have freedom of choice concerning growing a mustache. You can do Christmas shopping for 25 relatives on December 24 in 25 minutes.

No wonder men are happier.

Happy Friday!

Chef Lindsey....or maybe not?

So Dustin has been on me because I don't cook. He does all the cooking but I hate cooking. HATE IT! I would rather do almost anything than cook. I found a recipe online and I thought I would give it a try. Since I was at work all day yesterday I had Dustin go to the grocery store for me! Here is what I attempted to make.....notice the word ATTEMPTED.

Baked Dijon Salmon

Here are the ingredients:

1/4 cup butter, melted

3 tablespoons Dijon mustard

1 1/2 tablespoons honey

1/4 cup dry bread crumbs

1/4 cup finely chopped pecans

4 teaspoons chopped fresh parsley

4 (4 ounce) fillets salmon

1 lemon for garnish

Me cooking away.......until................

I messed up and Dustin had to take over. I am pathetic. I am going to make a great mom some day huh? I am thinking fish sticks or chicken nuggets on the nights Daddy is at work. Genius!

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F

2. In a small bowl, stir together butter, mustard and honey. Set aside, In another bowl, mix together bread crumbs, pecans and parsley.

3. Brush each salmon fillet lightly with honey mustard mixture, and sprinkle the tops of the fillets with the bread crumb mixture.

4. Bake salmon 12 to 15 minutes in the preheated oven, or until it flakes easily with a fork.

Everything turned out great...probably because Dustin took over for the most part! It was really good. I love salmon and this spiced it up a little. Here is a pic of the finished product.

I served green beans and rice with the salmon. It was very yummy! Even Jax wanted some!

Hard to tell what is going on in the picture but Jax squeezes his head between Dustin and the table and stands there. It is his way of begging. So cute!

My next attempt at being Chef Lindsey will be on Saturday night. I am going to attempt to make homemade pizza. I know what your thinking, I may just be taking on too big of a challenge. I guess if all else fails there is always Dominos!

Four 4's

Okay, so Kendall tagged me...........
1. Choose the 4th folder in which you store pictures in your computer.
2. Choose the 4th picture.
3. Explain that picture.
4. Tag 4 people.
This picture is a pic of Dustin and I before leaving to attend my good friend Kelsie's college graduation party. Oh, that seems like so long ago. I can't believe how old we are all getting. I had cropped this picture but it was the 4th one so I had to post it.
Okay now for the tagging part.....

Wordful Wednesday

Wordful Wednesday! You can go here to play along.

I was going through pictures last night to see if I could find a funny picture to post. I found this picture.

Please excuse how awful Dustin and I both look not to mention ridiculous. FYI....Dustin begged me not to post this picture but I was determined to use my new scanner. This was actually the first night that Dustin and I met each other. We were both seniors in high school except we attended different high schools. We aren't from the same town. This was my senior prom and Dustin wasn't my date either.

In case you don't remember, Dustin and I met through mutual friends which was why he was attending our prom. He was actually the date of one of my friends. Back to the picture, I am not sure what possessed us to do this but I guess some of us thought it would be funny for one of the guys to put on one of the girl's prom dresses and for one of the girls to put on one of the guy's tuxes. I don't remember if Dustin and I volunteered or we got suckered into it. Even though we look ridiculous in this picture I love it because I am so glad that I met Dustin that night! That was 7 years ago. I am so glad that he became my good friend and eventually my husband.

Side Note totally unrelated to Wordful Wednesday: I did watch 90210 last night and I was excited to see Tori Spelling on the show but it just wasn't the same. She even acted different. She is going to be on there next week too which I am excited about.

Yesterday was a very stressful day for me. It was just one of those days where anything and everything went wrong. I just went home and bawled last night. I tend to want to cry when I get really stressed. So far today has been 10 times better but I am still exhausted from yesterday. Hurry up weekend!!

Tuesday Excitement!

Two things have me really excited right now!

One
Tori Spelling is going to be on 90210 tonight! I only watch this show because some of the original characters make appearances. If you know me you know that I am obsessed with the original Beverly Hills 90210. Is anyone going to watch tonight?

Two

The Seventh Season of 90210 came out earlier this month. I need to go buy it. I have all the other seasons. I am a freak I know, you don't have to tell me.

I have a busy night ahead of me. Tuesday is a busy TV night for me and I have a ton of other things I have to get done tonight. My DVR is going to get a work out tonight.!

Not So Funny Of The Day

I just had a "not so funny" experience this afternoon. I am sitting here at work working away when my cell phone rings. I didn't recognize the number and I usually don't answer numbers I don't know, but this was the same area code as the area where my husband works. He had just called me from the fire station (which I have that number programmed in my phone) but they have multiple phone lines. So I answer the phone and this was the conversation:

Me:
"Hello".

Chief Shelley: "Yes, this is Chief Shelley and I am calling in regards to your husband"......I think my immediate reaction would have been has something happened to my husband but since I had just talked to him less than 15 minutes ago and he was at the station I didn't get too worried.

Me: "Yes".

Chief Shelley: "First of all, don't worry nothing has happened to your husband".....a sigh of relief. "Your husband just walked in here and was being disrespectful to me and I am calling to tattle on him". "He says his behavior is due to lack of sleep this weekend due to the numerous activities and work you made him do this weekend".

Me: "Oh is that so. I don't recall that being the case."

Chief Shelley: "This will be grounds for dismissal and he just asked for a pen to sign on the dotted line".

Me: Thinking to myself: What the heck? (actually it was a different choice word but I am keeping this clean). I am speechless at this point.

Chief Shelley:
"I didn't think you would agree with his decision since I know you guys have a house payment".

Me: "No, sir." "You just let me talk to him".

Chief Shelley: Laughing "I didn't think so and I am just kidding." "Your husband didn't believe I would call you".

Me: Big sign of relief..."Okay you just send him home to me and I will take care of his behavior".

At first I was believing the whole conversation but towards the end I thought something was a little fishy. Turns out they were just playing a joke on me. I guess it was kind of funny in the end. I have met the fire chief and he is just one of the guys. He cuts up and jokes with all the guys just as much as they cut up with each other.

Sounds like they are getting a lot of work done around the station today huh? I guess they don't have anything better to do. Wish I didn't.

Happy Monday friends!

Happy Easter from our family to yours!

Saturday

Today has been a great day! I slept in...well kind of...I woke up about 8. Dustin and I ate breakfast and then watched a few shows on the DVR. Then we got ready and headed to lunch at Texas Land & Cattle. Yum! After that we did a quick grocery run because I had to pick up a few things for Easter lunch tomorrow.

Then we came home and picked up Jax & Maribel and took them to Pet Smart. We have not taken Maribel to Pet Smart since we got her last September. Since it is Jax's birthday this month we thought we would let him pick out a few treats for his birthday! Of course Maribel got a few treats too! Here are few pics of the ride to Pet Smart.

They have to have their heads out the window.

Jax's ears flapping in the wind.

Kind of fuzzy but Jax is so cute with his head hanging out and his jowls flapping in the wind.

Maribel

Checking out the treats at Pet Smart. Dustin was mortified that I was taking pictures in the store.

Jax with his new bone!

After our trip to Pet Smart Dustin and I went to Office Max to get a new printer. We got a new HP printer that copies, scans and prints. I am so excited! I will be scanning some old pictures and post them on my blog soon. Yea! I have always wanted a scanner.

Dustin is grilling steaks tonight for dinner! Then we are going to watch 7 Pounds with Will Smith. I hope it is a good movie. We heard that it was good. Have a fabulous Saturday and a Happy Easter tomorrow!

All I Need to Know About Life I Learned From The Easter Bunny

It's Friday!!! Thank goodness! Thank you for the advice that some of you gave me. A few people e-mailed me their advice. I appreciate it! The best piece of advice I got was that most of the time you already have your mind made up you just need the courage. I think that is true, at least in my case it is. I do have my mind made up and I am just going to continue to pray about it. I promise I will let you all know as soon as I can.

On to brighter things, I am so ready for the weekend. I love Easter! Dustin was called into work last night because of all the grass fires here in North Texas. He is on shift today too. I am glad he doesn't have to work on Easter this year. Tonight my friend Jennifer is coming over and I think we are going to grab dinner. I love girls night! We were going to go to the zoo tomorrow but I think we are going to postpone it until later this month. Our first born Jax is turning 3 this month! I am not sure when his exact birthday is since he was almost 7 or 8 weeks old when we brought him home. We are going to take Jax and Maribel to Pet Smart this weekend to pick out a few treats! I know, we are way too much into our dogs but we don't have any children yet so it's okay right? Then of course on Sunday we are going to church and then lunch with the family. Can't wait!

I got this cute e-mail from my mom this morning and I thought it was too cute not to share!

Big Decisions

I have been extremely busy this week. I am even falling behind on my blog reading. If you have left me a comment I promise to get around to commenting back I just haven't had time lately but yet, I am finding the time to write this post. Ha! I got an exciting e-mail yesterday and I have been asked to participate in a blog interview for Jenna's blog. She is interviewing newly married couples. My interview won't appear on her blog until sometime in July. I will be sure to let you know when that happens. Thanks Newlyweds Next Door for recommending me!

I have had a huge decision riding on my shoulders for the past couple of weeks. It is actually something I have been thinking about for a long time. I don't want to say what it is right now but I promise to let you know once I have made up my mind. It is nothing serious. For those of you that know me, you know that I am a very cautious person. I over think every decision I make and I am usually always filled with worry. I am not a risk taker and I hate change.

I have recently had a few opportunities open up that have made me have to make my decision quickly. I am filled with nervousness yet excitement. I have a whole bunch of feelings going through me and I am not sure what to make of it. I am thankful for my husband, my family, and one of my close friends for their support. They have made the decision a little easier for me.

I wanted to ask you, what do you do when you have a big decision to make? What do you find most helpful in making decisions? I welcome any advice you have to offer.

Thank goodness tomorrow is Friday! The weekend can't come soon enough!

Wordful Wednesday

It's Wednesday and you know what that means.....Wordful Wednesday! Head over to Seven Clown Circus to play along.

This picture was taken last year on Easter. I love Easter! I love the spring time weather and I love everything that Easter represents. I thought I would list my favorite things about Easter.

1. Easter Service: I love going to church on Easter. I love it almost as much as Christmas Eve service. I love worshiping our savior Jesus Christ and thanking him for dying on the cross for my sins. I also love the music during worship. The whole experience is just awesome.

2. Family: Every year my family gets together after church for Easter lunch. My entire family attends the same church and we usually always eat as a family after church but it is extra special on Easter. Dustin and I recently started attending a younger church and we love it very much and I am excited to attend their Easter service this year. My mom cooks a big lunch and everyone comes over to eat. I love it!

3. Easter Baskets: I love Easter baskets. They are so fun! To this day, my mom still puts together an Easter basket for my sister and I. They are usually filed with candy and a small gift such as cute socks or a shirt. This year my mom got me a pair of shorts from Old Navy. I used to put together an Easter basket for Dustin when were dating. I can't wait to have children so I can make their Easter baskets every year.

4. Easter Candy: I know that it is the same old candy that you can buy year round except everything is in bright spring colors and egg shaped! I love it! I have been buying a lot of Easter candy lately and I need to stop! My figure does not appreciate it!

5. Easter Egg Hunts: I have not hunted Easter eggs in years but it was my favorite childhood memory of Easter. My dad, my uncle and my grandpa would the hide eggs all over the yard and then my sister and I would go looking. There were always 2 eggs that were filled with money, one for me and one for my sister. Sadly, we don't have any little kids on my side of the family so we haven't done an egg hunt in a long time.

What is your favorite part of Easter and do you have special plans?

Tuesday's Lame Post

This is going to be a lame post. Nothing has been going on in the Wynn household so there isn't much to blog about. I am excited about Easter. I am going to do an Easter post tomorrow for Wordful Wednesday. I love Easter!

I finally finished Good In Bed by Jennifer Weiner. It was hard for me to get into the book at first but once I got about halfway through the book I couldn't put it down. I was so excited to start reading Chasing Harry Winston by Lauren Weisberger but instead I am going to read the sequel to Good In Bed. It is called Certain Girls and it comes out in paper back today. I am nerd and pre-ordered a copy and am having it shipped to me. Lame I know. What can I say, I love to read.

On a completely different note, did anyone watch the Academy of Country Music Awards? I love country music and I have watched the ACM awards since I was a little girl. I was so glad that Carrie Underwood won Entertainer of the Year. Did any of you see her dress that she wore during her performance? Wow! I have never seen a dress that big.

Told you it was big.

I am going to admit that I watched The Hills last night. I have watched this show from the beginning and since it is the final season I figured I might as well watch. Is anybody else out there willing to admit they are a Hills fan?

I just can't get over Heidi and Spencer. Yuck! I can't stand Spencer. He is such a jerk. My husband is going to kill me for telling all of you that he watched it with me last night. That's right, he watched an entire hour of The Hills! Not by choice of course, but he did admit he enjoyed watching the show because he got a kick out of making fun of everyone on the show. He just can't get over the fact that some one would want to make a show about these people's lives and that people actually watch it.

I told you this post was going to be lame. Have a good Tuesday everyone! I love Tuesdays because Biggest Loser, American Idol, Law & Order SVU and 90210 come on! I have a busy TV night ahead of me!

Sunday Shopping

Today Dustin and I went to Canton with my parents. You can go here to find out more about Canton. I am exhausted. It was cold and very windy today. Because I had not been to Canton in years, I did not realize how big it had gotten. It took us almost 30 minutes to walk back to our car when we were ready to leave. My feet hurt!

There was an unbelievable amount of stuff there. I was so overwhelmed. I wished I had a money tree today because there was lots of cute stuff. I could have bought everything I put my hands on but I don't have a money tree. I did find a few things that I had to have.

I made this to go on the corner ledge of my bathtub but it doesn't fit. I will have to find another place for it.

I got these cute fireman ornaments for our Christmas tree. My Christmas tree is done in all fireman ornaments and they are hard to find. These were the only 2 I found so I snatched them up.

I bought this turquoise necklace. I am already trying to think of an outfit to wear to work tomorrow that this will go with. Ha!

I got this cute collar for Miss Maribel. So cute!

We also got some mix to make ranch dip and chili along with some pecan pie muffins. Yum! I think I already mentioned that I am tired. I am also starving. I think the long walk back to the car made me hungry. I am going to go beg my husband to feed me now!

Hope you all had a fantastic weekend! Too bad it is almost over with.

Just down right Hilarious!

A blog I follow called McMommy Chronicles is hosting POW....Post of the Week. You use Mr. Linky and upload your favorite post of the week. I have been reading a few of the posts people have linked and I came across this blog.

This is the funniest thing I think I have ever read. The blog is called Playpen and Matt who is a father to a little girl with one on the way has written the most hilarious post ever! Here is a quote from his post....

" You can prepare yourself all you want for the trials and tribulations of parenting but I can tell you this. No one. ever. Can prepare you for the taste of poo."

Now go read his blog and if you don't laugh you are not human. Oh, how I can't wait to be a parent! Ha!

TGIF!

Thank goodness it is Friday! This week actually flew by for me. I am so ready for this weekend! I actually get to have a relaxing weekend. The last 4 weekends have been crazy busy for me!

Did anyone watch the series finale of ER? I did and I was a little disappointed. I hated the ending and there was no sign of George Clooney. I kind of wished they had focused more on the old characters rather than the newer characters. I was glad I watched it and it was kind of sad because it was such a great show.

Tonight I don't have any plans and that is a great thing. Dustin is going to the Ranger game with Clark (hopefully our future brother-in-law) and I plan to curl up and watch Marley & Me. Dustin is on shift tomorrow and I don't have any plans! Greatness!!

Sunday Dustin and I are going to Canton Trade Days in Canton, TX with my parents. If you live in Texas I am sure you have heard of Canton. They call it a huge flea market that takes place on the first weekend of every month. I wouldn't call it a flea market because flea market to me means junk and the stuff at Canton is far from junk. They sell everything from jewelry, clothing, home decor, furniture, baby accessories, etc. Vendors come from all over the place to sell their stuff. I haven't been in years and I am so excited. I can't believe I got Dustin to agree to go with me.

Sunday is also my parent's 29th Wedding Anniversary! Happy anniversary Mom & Dad! I love you both very much!

Happy Friday! Does anyone have exciting plans for the weekend?

End of an Era

Is anyone going to watch the series finale of ER tonight? I will admit that I have not watched the show the past 5 or 6 seasons. I can't believe it has been on for 15 years! That is a long time for TV. I was only 10 at the time the show first premiered but when I got old enough I was an avid watcher of the show. I would watch the re-runs to catch up on the beginning seasons.

I remember in high school my senior year I was in an early morning economics class and every Friday morning when we all got to class we would immediately discuss Thursday night's episode of ER. I think it was my senior year when Mark Anthony's character died on the show. I remember bawling like a baby when he died. That was probably the most memorable episode for me.

Of course my favorite character on the show was George Clooney! I loved his on-screen romance with Julianna Marguiles. I hear they are both supposed to be on the finale tonight! The writers kind of left a lot of unanswered questions about their romance. When she left the show she was supposedly moving to be with Clooney. He was the father of her twins. I am hoping tonight will bring us up to date if they both appear on the finale.

I guess ER was the Grey's Anatomy of the 90's. The past several seasons of ER have been kind of rough and I think the show has kind of drug on too long but as it has been said, "it is the end of an era".

What is your favorite ER moment?

Wordful Wednesday

It is time for Wordful Wednesday again! Head over to 7 Clown Circus to play along.

I was looking through my pictures last night trying to find a picture to use today for Wordful Wednesday when I came across this picture.

I just died laughing. It was hilarious at the time and it still is. Jax, our Boxer, really thinks he is a human probably because I treat him like one most of the time. He was laying in my bed one night when I walked in to find him with his head on the pillow. I thought it would be funny to cover him up and take a picture. I thought it would be even funnier to have Dustin get in bed beside him and this is what came of it. I love how Jax is looking back at me like "Hello, you are disturbing my sleep", as if it was his bed.

There isn't much of a story behind this picture other than the fact that it is pretty darn funny!

Happy Wednesday my friends! Oh, and happy April Fool's Day!
