2010 in Review

2010 was the best year yet!  I am sure you all can't imagine why.  Ha!  Here is my year in review.

In January I entered into my second trimester of pregnancy and in February we found out for sure that we were having a BOY!

In March I turned 26.  I can't believe that in just 2 1/2 months I will be 27. 

In April we celebrated my parent's 30th Wedding Anniversary.  We went to dinner in downtown Ft. Worth.

In May I had my baby shower hosted by my sister and best friends.  It was so much fun!

July was by far the best month out of the entire year!  Grayson was born July 2 weighing 10 Ibs. 8 ounces.

August 30 was the worst day of my life.  It was the day I had to go back to work.  It was tough and I cried every day for the first week.  Okay I'll be honest I probably cried longer than that.

I also got a new job in December!

That is our year in review! I can't wait for the new year and to see what it has in store for me. I am so very blessed and thankful for everything that God has done in my life.  Bring on the New Year! 

First Christmas 2010

Can't believe Christmas has already came and went. All the planning and preparing and it is over in the blink of an eye.  We had a wonderful Christmas and this was the best Christmas ever! I could cry just thinking about it.  I am so thankful for our sweet little boy and my heart is filled with joy.  I am so very blessed.

Grayson is one spoiled little boy! It never got old opening present after present for him.  We mostly celebrated Christmas on Christmas Eve this year.  Friday morning we got up ate cinnamon rolls and showed Grayson the toys that Santa brought. 

The toys that Santa brought.  He wasn't quite sure what to do with them.  I didn't get any pictures of him checking out his toys but I got it all on video.  I will have to work on getting it uploaded.  When I was trying to show him his books he kept trying to push them closed.  I guess he wasn't in the reading mood. He is such a silly boy.

Dustin's family came over for lunch and to open presents.  Dustin made King Ranch Casserole and we had rice and beans.  It was so good! We only bought for the kids this year.  There are 8 kids to buy for so we just decided this year the adults didn't need anything.

He was one tired little boy but he stayed awake through it all.  He didn't want to miss out on any presents.

The greatest present ever! He rolled himself under the Christmas tree.  He rolls everywhere now.

After we finished up with Dustin's family we headed over to my parent's house to celebrate with my family.  We tamales for dinner and then opened presents.

Grayson got a Radio Flyer red wagon from his Grammy and Grumpy.  I can't wait until he starts sitting up so he can ride in it.

Grayson also got a Tickle Me Elmo from Grammy and Grumpy.  They are retiring the Tickle Me Elmo after this year.  He loved it! He would watch Elmo and laugh.

After we opened presents we all went to church for the Christmas Eve candle light service.  Dustin and I made it almost through the entire service but we ended up leaving early.  Grayson was asleep the first half but then woke up and decided he wanted to chit chat.  He would not be quiet so we decided to head home.  I missed my favorite part but at least I got to go.  Once we got home I thought Grayson would go right to bed because he barely napped all day but he was wound up until about 10 o'clock.  He finally went to sleep and so did we. 

Christmas morning Grayson gave me a little present.  He let me sleep until 9:30! After we got up and got ready Grayson and I headed over to my parent's house to eat lunch.  Dustin had to work and we missed him a lot.

Update.....Where does the time go?

A lot has been going on in the Wynn household but I just haven’t had the time or energy to sit down and write a blog post. Honestly I am just too dang tired! I still have yet to write Grayson’s 5 month post and he is quickly approaching 6 months. I can’t believe Christmas is this week. Crazy! I still haven’t finished all of my shopping and yesterday I finally got around to wrapping a few presents. To say I am behind is an understatement. I have a feeling I am going to be doing some last minute shopping this year which is totally not like me. I usually have my shopping done early.

I guess I will start with the biggest news. I got a new job and I start January 3! Two years ago I started an alternative certification program to get my teacher certification. Two years later I finally got a job as a teacher aide. I have to start some where and I really feel like God is finally opening the doors for me. I am going to be working at one of the high schools in my home town. I am very excited, nervous, scared and anxious. I am so glad to have this opportunity and I am loving the fact that it will give me more time with Grayson. No more commuting!!! It has been a long road to get here and I am so thankful it is finally happening. At the same time I am very sad to be leaving my current job. I have worked here for 5 years and everyone in my office is like family to me. They are also sad but wish me well in my new adventure. With this new job will come many struggles but Dustin and I are prepared and I am praying that this position will open the door to land a teaching position in August.

This month was a big month for babies! Two of my very best friends had baby boys this month! Kelsie’s little boy Brock was born on December 4 and Jennifer’s little boy Cade was born on December 15. I can’t wait for Grayson and these two little boys to get old enough to play with each other. I hope they will be great friends!

Grayson officially has two teeth. His bottom front teeth finally came through last week and those little suckers are sharp! I know the worst isn’t over and I was hoping he would get a little break before the next ones decide to come in but no such luck. He has not been feeling good the past few days and I know it is his teeth. Poor little guy! I have a bunch of pictures of him but I still need to upload them. Hopefully over the Christmas holiday I can get them uploaded. I did a little mini photo shoot of him in my living room one day. The pictures aren’t great because one I am not a photographer and two he wouldn’t be still. Some of them turned out okay though.

We are celebrating Christmas with Dustin’s family and my family on Christmas Eve. Since Dustin has to work on Christmas day we have to fit everyone in on one day. It is going to be madness. Because Dustin is working on Christmas day we may do Santa early and let Grayson wake up on Christmas Eve morning to presents from Santa. I thought about not doing it all together but I changed my mind. At least he is little and doesn’t have a clue that it is even Christmas. We didn’t go all out for his first Christmas either. I am still excited for his first Christmas though. I am also hoping we can get to church on Christmas Eve also. I love the Christmas Eve candle light services.

Naughty or Nice?

Dear Santa,

I have been a nice boy the past 5 months.  I never give mommy and daddy fits, I sleep well at night and I'm always making mommy and daddy smile.  Everyone is always commenting on how I am such a happy baby.  I usually always have a smile on my face.  Mommy and Daddy are always telling me how cute I am and that I am such a good boy.

So for Christmas I would like lots of toys.  Really anything I can put in my mouth would be great.  These teeth sure are giving me a hard time and I love to chew on anything I can get my hands on.  This is what I was trying to tell you when I sat on your lap but mommy kept distracting me so they could take my picture.

I can't wait to wake up on Christmas morning and see what you bring me.  I promise I will leave you some milk and cookies to snack on but I can't promise that my puppies won't eat them before you get to my house.

Thanksgiving 2010

Gosh the holidays sure fly by fast. We had a great Thanksgiving and I am still stuffed! Our Thanksgiving started last weekend when we celebrated with Dustin's family.  His side of the family came to our house and we did things a little non-traditional.  We grilled hamburgers and made homemade potato salad and beans.  Since we were celebrating early and everyone was going to get their fair share of turkey this week, we decided non-traditional was the way to go.

Thanksgiving morning Grayson and I watched the Macy's Thanksgiving parade and then we got ready and headed to my parent's house.  Unfortunately Dustin had to work.  My sister, both sets of my grandparents and my uncle were there.  We all stuffed ourselves with fried turkey and dressing. It was so good!

After we ate we watched the Cowboy game and scoured the black Friday sale ads.

Later that afternoon Grayson and I headed to the fire station to have Thanksgiving dinner with Dustin. I didn't get any pictures and Grayson slept the whole time. It was a fun time had by all.  The guys cooked the turkey and all the wives brought a side dish.

Friday morning I was not up bright and early. I'm not much of a black Friday shopper. There was only one thing I wanted to get Dustin for Christmas and luckily my dad was getting up super early and going to the same place. He got it for me. We did venture out to the mall later. It was super packed of course. I went with the intentions of getting some Christmas shopping done but I ended up shopping for myself.  I couldn't help it. There were some great deals! We were exhausted when we got home and Grayson had the right idea.

We went for Mexican food for dinner and called it a night.  Saturday we slept in, thank you Grayson! After we got up and moving we went to lunch at Twisted Root Burger.  It was so good. They were featured on The Food Network's Diners, Dives & Drive-Ins.

After that we headed to Garden Ridge to get some Christmas decorations for the house. We came home and Dustin put up the lights outside while I put up the Christmas tree.  All my Christmas stuff is up.  Now all I need is presents to go under the tree.

Dustin had to work today and Grayson and I have done nothing all day! It has been fabulous.  I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I know we did!

Christmas Wish List

I can't believe that Christmas will be here in just a little over a month.  Heck, I can't believe Thanksgiving is in 2 weeks.  Time just flys by these days.  This year I am not so concerned with my wish list.  I am more concerned with Grayson's Christmas list.  Yes I know he is still way to young to have his own Christmas list but I can't wait to surprise him with a few things from Santa on Christmas morning!

This year my family really isn't buying for each other.  We are mainly going to buy for Grayson.  Talk about one spoiled little boy!  But just for fun here is my wish list.

Jessica Simpson Ruffle Me Faux Leather Tote

I have read every book in the Shopaholic series by Sophie Kinsella.  This book came out in September and pre baby days I would have already snatched this up and finished it in about two days.  Now I never set foot in a book store (which makes me very sad).  Between work and taking care of Grayson I never have time to read anymore.  If I do have a spare moment I'm so tired that I would be asleep before I could even finish reading a page.  I still would like to receive this book because one day I will read it.

This one is more of a like than a want.  I love this navy blue military coat from Ann Taylor Loft.  I love the coat but not so much the price.  I am really into dark blues and purples right now.  This coat comes in deep navy and eggplant. If I had extra money laying around this would definitely be on my must have list.  But let's face it, who has extra money lying around? Not me! And besides, this is Texas and it rarely gets cold enough for a coat like this.   

Steve Madden Iden Boots

I have been wanting a pair of low wedge boots.  I really hope these appear under the Christmas tree this year.  Hint Hint Dustin.....I know you read this blog. Ha!

And just for fun, this is the # 1 item on Grayson's Christmas List this year!

I can't wait until he is old enough to go riding in this wagon.  We are going to use it in my sister's wedding in May.  Grayson is the ring bearer and since he probably won't be walking then he will come down the aisle in style!

One of my favorite things about Christmas time is going to the mail box each day and receiving Christmas cards!  There is something so fun about receiving mail the old fashioned way.  I started sending out Christmas cards after Dustin and I got married. The past two years I have used Shutterfly.  They have a really great selection at a really great price.  Their website is easy to use, the ordering is simple and the service is fast.  The quality of their cards is exceptional and I was pleased with their products.  This year Shutterfly is offering 50 free holiday cards to bloggers.  What a great deal!

Before I even saw this promotion I had already checked out their site in search of this year's Christmas card.  Shutterfly is also a great place to go for your other needs like photo books, stationary and calendars.
