I'm Off

We are off to NYC tomorrow! Sadly, I will not be blogging while I am gone. Since I use this blog as a journal/scrapbook of our lives, I will blog all about our trip when we get back!

Before I go I will give you a quick re-cap of our weekend so far. Friday I got to leave work early! Yea! That doesn't happen often. I had a nice surprise when I got home. My niece came over for a visit! She is 13 months and just started walking and she is so adorable. I could just eat her up!

Such a big girl now! Oh and she is in her diaper because she spilt the dog's water bowl all over her. Needless to say, our house is not baby proofed. Her clothes were all wet.

Then later that night we went over to my parent's house to celebrate my sister's boyfriend's birthday! Clark turns 23 on Tuesday! He and my sister had just gotten back from Galveston and they brought fish and shrimp. We grilled out and it was yummy!

Here is the birthday boy and his yummy cookie cake!

After we celebrated Clark's birthday we went to the North Texas State Fair & Rodeo and saw Randy Rogers Band and Josh Abbott play. I didn't take my camera so I didn't get any pictures. It was fun but a little hot.

Today I have been packing and doing laundry. This poor guy has been pouting all day.

As soon as I got the suit cases out he knew we were leaving him. He does not like it when we are gone. He is such the pouter. Aunt Nadalee will be taking good care of them while we are gone.

Have a wonderful week everyone!

Do You Think It Really Works?

I went to Target during lunch today and I decided to try this.

Pantene's Full & Thick Shampoo.
We shall see if it works. My hair is very straight and has no body what so ever. I am hoping this helps.

************

I am starting a new book this week. Summer Affair by Elin Hilderbrand.

I really wanted to read Best Friends by Jennifer Weiner but I refuse to pay for hard back books. I always wait until they come out in paper back. $15 dollars for a book that you only read once is a little ridiculous so I am definitely not going to pay $25 for one. I'll let you know if this one is any good.

Fabulous!

My blog that is! Thanks Christa for giving me the "My Blog is Fabulous" Award.

Christa is a Texas girl like me and I'll forgive her for being an Aggie. HaHa! Just kidding!! She attends Texas A&M and is majoring in education. Go check out her blog!

This fabulous award has certain "rules" that go along with it.

Here are the rules:

1. List five current obsessions

2. Pass the award on to five fabulous blogs.

My current obsessions are:

1. Reading: Well I have always loved reading but here lately I have been on a roll. I am going to the bookstore this week to buy a new book for the plane ride to NYC next week.

2. Coke Zero: I have always been a Diet Dr. Pepper girl but here lately all I have been drinking is Coke Zero. It tastes so much better than Diet Coke.

3. Army Wives: Seriously I love this show. I live for Sunday nights right now. Last night's episode was so good but of course if left us hanging. Can't wait until next week.

4. Planning: I have always been one to plan ahead but lately I have been in a creative/planning mood. I am currently planning something for Dustin's birthday.

5. Doritos: I have eaten way too many nacho cheese doritos lately. I used to eat them as a kid and as I got older I switched to Baked Lays. Dustin came home with a bag a month or 2 ago and I can't stop eating them.

The 5 Fabulous Blogs I am passing this award on to:

1. Kate @ The Richardson's.....If you don't follow her blog you should. This girl is hilarious. I crack up each and every time I read her blog. She always makes me laugh.

2. Amanda @ My Life as a Wife.....I love reading Amanda's blog. She is so upbeat and fun! She has 2 adorable fur babies! I love reading about all her crazy adventures!

3. Heather @ Live.Love.Laugh....I just started reading Heather's blog. She is super fun and lives in Chicago. She is getting married in 2 months in Hawaii!

4. Cassi @ High Heels & Huntin Boots....I am also a new follower of Cassi's blog. She has a super cute blog and I just love the title. She is a small town country girl who misses the city life.

5. Miss Honeydew @ Life After I Dew....Miss Honeydew is also getting married in less than 2 months and I love reading all about her wedding plans.

Weekend & Movie Review

I finished The Time Traveler's Wife Thursday night and I went to see the movie Friday night. I am sorry to disappoint but the book is 100 times better. Isn't that the way it usually turns out anyways? The books are always better than the movies in my opinion. To me the movie was really confusing if you hadn't read the book. I went with my sister, who hadn't read the book, and she got confused a few times during the movie. I had to explain a few parts to her. I love Rachel McAdams who makes the movie better than it really is. Also, the movie was very different than the book.

Saturday I didn't do much. I was being lazy around the house. Saturday night Dustin and I went to eat with my sister and her boyfriend. Then we went to Yogurt Story to get yogurt. Yummy! Then we came back to our house and watched the Ranger game. Yes I know a little strange for me because I can't stand baseball but it was a little easier to watch because they were playing the Red Soxs and the Rangers actually won!

Today we had a wedding to go to. One of the Lieutenants at Dustin's station was getting married. Sorry, no pictures. I didn't take my camera in which is unusual for me. We just got home and now I am off the clean our dirty house. Yuck!

Have a great rest of the weekend!

Show Us Your Life: Favorite Vacation Spot

I had so much fun participating in Kelly's Show Us Your Life Wedding series I thought I would keep the ball rolling. This week is your favorite vacation spot. I haven't traveled in a really long time. I used to travel more when I was younger and we would go on family vacations. My favorite vacation was when I went to Europe the summer before my senior year in high school. A group from my high school went to London, Paris, Madrid, Morocco, and some town in Portugal. It was a 17 day vacation and I had so much fun! I can't wait to get back over to Europe. If only I could convince my husband. LOL!

My dream vacation would be to go to Germany and Italy. I have got to work on my husband. He just doesn't know what he is missing. I loved going to Europe and I would say that so far it is my favorite vacation spot.

This was taken right before the changing of the guards at Buckingham Palace. I believe the Queen was there that day. If the flag on top of the palace is all the way up it means that Queen is there. London was my favorite of the entire trip. I would go back in a heartbeat.

This was our entire group in front of the Eiffel Tower. It was so cold in Paris. We were there at the beginning of June and I was wearing jackets and sweat shirts. I would probably have to say that I would never go back to Paris. It was very dirty. I hope I didn't offend anyone.

This is the famous Moulin Rouge. It isn't the greatest picture because I snapped it as we were driving by in our bus.

This is a picture of a church in Spain. The architecture in Europe is amazing. Spain really had some beautiful buildings.

This is what I saw when we landed in Africa. We took a boat across from Spain. The countryside was probably the most beautiful I have ever seen. I wish I could say the same when we traveled into Morocco. It was the dirtiest place I have ever been and you couldn't pay me to go back. There was dead pigs and carcass hanging in the streets and their sewer system (if you want to call it that) ran through the streets. It really makes you appreciate what you have.

I really hope that I can get back to Europe one day. It really is amazing to see because it is so different from over here in America.

Exciting News!

Okay well it may not be exciting to any of you but it is to me! Dustin and I leave for NYC in about a week! I am totally ecstatic! I know we are going to have so much fun or at least I will anyways. Dustin isn't as excited as I am.

The North Texas State & Rodeo is held in my hometown every August. I love all the concerts! There are some great Texas country bands playing this year and you better believe I have tickets! Dustin and I are squeezing in the concerts in between our trip. Plus I love going and seeing people I went to high school with. Another thing I love is the food. You can't beat fair food.

Dustin and I are going to a Cowboys game in September! I have always wanted to go to a Cowboy game. They are playing in the new stadium this year which makes it even better. They aren't going to be the greatest seats but I don't care....I get to go! We are going when they are playing the NY Giants. I am so pumped.

Dustin's 26th birthday is in September. I want to plan something fun but I know he won't let me. He isn't big on birthdays. His family was never really big on birthdays. They had parties growing up but once they were teenagers they weren't a big deal. In my family we always make a big deal about birthdays. That is just how I grew up. My entire family still gets together for every birthday in our family. We usually cook dinner or go out to eat. I may just have to plan something and not tell him. Ha! He will love me for that!

Lots of exciting events coming up...exciting me to anyways! Plus I love this time of year so it makes it even better! You can tell I am in a good mood today!

Happy Wednesday everyone!
