Highlights

Highlights from my weekend:

1. I got to play Bunco Friday night with some lovely ladies. Always a good time!

2. Had a lazy day on Saturday and watched nothing but royal wedding stuff. I loved Kate's dress! I have always been interested in the royal family.... probably because of Princess Diana. Who could not root for Prince William and Harry after what they went through. To me William & Kate's wedding was like a real life fairytale. Just a regular middle class girl marries a prince. 

3. This is not really a highlight because it is so very sad, but I watched Dateline about the tornados in  Alabama and Mississippi. Still praying for all the victims. So very sad.

4. I went to see Water for Elephants yesterday.

 I will say this....I loved the book but the movie was not great. The movie was okay but it didn't keep my interest. It drug on a little too long. I never got bored with the book and I finished it in less than a week. Not sure why I didn't love the movie....can't really explain it.

5. Osama Bin Laden is dead! Thank you to all the troops who have fought so very hard to bring justice to our country.

First Easter 2011

Yesterday was Grayson's first Easter! I can't wait to share with him the true meaning of Easter but we definitely had a lot of fun on his first Easter. We had a pretty low key weekend. Saturday Grayson got to attend his first birthday party for his friend Mason. Of course Grayson didn't really get what was going on but he had fun watching all of the kids. Then we ran some errands and had a lazy evening at home. Grayson has been teething like crazy and it makes for one unhappy boy.

Sunday Grayson and I went to church with my family and then went to lunch. We missed Dustin a lot. I hated that his shift fell on Easter this year but that is the way it goes. After lunch we went over to my parent's house for dessert and to hang out. No Easter egg hunt this year but I can't wait until next year. I love Easter egg hunting!

On My Mind....

1. I am tired....like really tired. Grayson was up most of the night due to teething. He couldn't sleep so that means I didn't sleep. I am doing everything I can to keep my eyes open today.

2. I have been craving sweets so much lately. I am a huge sweet person and I usually crave them anyways but my cravings have been on overdrive lately. It doesn't help that Nothing Bundt Cakes is within walking distance from my office. They are to die for and I don't really like bundt cakes. 

3. I am sick of Cee Lo Green's FU and Lady Gaga's Born this Way. They play them over and over on the radio. Seriously I think they play them twice every hour. Can't they find another song to play?

4. I am also sick of hearing about Charlie Sheen. The man is messed up and I could care less. Move on people.

5. I am loving the shows Parenthood, Army Wives and Brothers & Sisters. I wish they were on every day. It was the season finale of Parenthood last night. Tear!

6. I am one of the crazy people who is going to DVR the royal wedding. Hey, at least I am not going to stay up and watch it live. 

7.  I can't wait to go see Water For Elephants but I am afraid I will be disappointed because I know it won't be as good as the book. I do love Reese Witherspoon though!

8. I can't wait to get home and go to bed. Here's to hoping for a much better night!

Wedding Festivities

My baby sister is getting married in one month and lately I have been consumed with wedding festivities. My sister got engaged in October 2009 so this day has been long awaited. I hosted her first shower at my house. It was pretty simple since I put it together at the last minute.

That same night we had my sister's Bachelorette Party! It was a lot of fun and my sister may or may not have thrown up in my mom's car. Ha!

Funny story: My sister is not a shy person by any means. She opened up all her lingerie at the restaurant and would hold it up for all of us to see. Our table was in the center of the room with booths along each side. A grown man and his older parents were sitting in a booth directly to my sister's left and when they got up to leave the man said that this was the most entertaining dinner of his life. He saw every bra, pantie and piece of lingerie that my sister opened. Hilarious!

Next up was her Couple's Shower. It was a lot of fun and the weather was beautiful. We all ate dinner around the pool and it was so nice. The food was so yummy. We had brisket tacos and cupcakes from Sprinkles.

Her last shower was this past Sunday.

As you can see I have been busy! Now I am just counting down the days until the wedding.

Oh and I ordered this little outfit for Grayson to wear to the wedding. After all he is the ring bearer!

Grayson will definitely be the most handsome guy there!

Unexpected

My father in law passed away this past Thursday. We weren't expecting it. He has been sick for the past several years.....his heart was failing. He hadn't been really sick or in the hospital for quite some time. We all thought he was doing okay. Dustin is doing as well as could be expected. He is relieved and glad that his Dad isn't suffering anymore but it still isn't easy. We are just trying to get through this week. The memorial service is being held on Friday.

My posts that I had planned will be delayed. We did have a good weekend though. I attended a couples shower for my sister and we spent time with family on Sunday. I will be back next week with much happier posts! 

It's Been Forever

I know I have abandoned my blog. I hope to be back in the swing of things and update more regularly now! A LOT has been going on. For starters I have another new job. You may remember this post where I told you about my new job as a teacher's aide. Well, if you have watched the news lately you know that there are major cuts to the education budget in Texas.  Shortly after I started my new job I got the opportunity to join my old co-worker at a new office she started a lot closer to where I live. Since I knew things with education were not going very well I decided to take the offer. I am very glad I did because in March I found out that I was going to be laid off from the school district. Since they were laying me off they let me go ahead and leave without finishing the school year. I am now back to working in real estate and I am happy. I did love teaching and I do think I really would have enjoyed having my own classroom, but honestly I don't really like where education is going right now. I'm not so sure that I want to be a part of it right now. My heart goes out to all the educators who have lost their jobs recently. It is so very sad.

This little guy is growing like a weed!

He is 9 months old and is into everything. I can't sit still for a minute. He is also pulling up on everything including the side of the bathtub. I have my hands full. His favorite thing to do is play with our doggie door. He did crawl completely outside one day and I found him on the patio. Please don't call CPS on me, I was watching him but I took my eyes off him for literally a second to put something away and he crawled through the dang door.

I celebrated my 27 birthday in March (sadly I don't have any pictures). I also hosted a bridal shower for my sister.  I can't believe her wedding is in 45 days. It seems like forever ago since they got engaged. She has a couple's shower this weekend and another shower next weekend. I am going to be a busy bee between now and May 21.

I recently signed Grayson up for swim lessons this summer. I can't wait! He dunks his face in the water in the bathtub so I know he won't have any problems getting in the pool.

I have lots more to post so hopefully I will get caught up soon. I have a little more free time now so hopefully I won't neglect my blog for so long this time around!
