Fall Is In The Air

Today we kind of had our first bit of fall weather. A rain storm came through and cooled everything off. Now I can't wait for it to actually get cooler. It hasn't rained around here in a while either so that was nice. I even walked the dogs in the rain. I do not like the heat and I can't wait to pull out my sweaters. I also can't wait for those cold mornings which call for trip to Starbucks. Love it!

I am trying to find more fall decorations for my house. My favorite season is Christmas and I have lots of Christmas decorations but not many fall decorations. I think I am going to make a trip to Hobby Lobby this weekend. Any recommendations on where I could pick up some cute but budget friendly decorations?

Not only am I working on getting my house decorated for fall, I am trying to just get it decorated in general. If you know me, you know that I do not have one crafty bone in my body. I always see lots of cute things but have a hard time visualizing it in my house. We have lived in our house for a little over a year and there is still so much I want to do. Obviously money has a little to do with it. I can only do so much at a time. You may remember a while back that I bought new bedding for our bed?

Dustin has been threatening to put foil up in our bedroom window because he thinks it is too light in there at night. He finally threatened me enough that I am working on getting curtains for our room. So, I think I have finally found a fabric that I like and a bonus because Dustin actually likes it too! Here is the fabric I picked....

I think it goes great with the bedding.

What do you think? I am just trying to picture full panels across our window with this pattern. I think it will look okay. Hopefully. See, I was definitely not born to be a designer. For the record, I didn't even pick this fabric out. The interior designer at my dad's store did. I just hope it isn't one of the more expensive fabrics.

Next up after we finish the curtains for our bedroom is cornice boards for the living room windows. After that I want a new dining room table. It never ends.

Today is September 11. I can't believe it has been 8 years. My heart still goes out to all the victims and their families who lost their life 8 years ago today. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. We don't have any big plans for the weekend. Thank goodness. I want to curl up on the couch and watch football. Go Red Raiders and Go Cowboys!!! Cowboys have their first game this weekend against Tampa Bay. Yea!!

A Post About Nothing......

Did anyone watch Primetime "Family Secrets" last night? The first half of the show was an interview with Jon Gosselin. I haven't watched any of the Jon & Kate episodes since they announced they were getting a divorce. I am done with the show. I also don't read the tabloids but I have seen bits and pieces on the entertainment shows such as Access Hollywood. I do have to say that after seeing his interview my perception of him has changed a little. You can't believe everything you read in the tabloids and he genuinely cares for his kids. Every time they talked about his kids in the interview he would break down and cry. Also, I do believe that he was verbally abused by Kate, it was very clear by watching the show. He did say that things were much worse off camera. He also said that Kate was the one who ended the marriage and he had tried for several years to get her to go to marriage counseling but she refused. The interviewer asked him if his relationship with Kate was fixable or if she came to him wanting to work on the marriage would he? He said absolutely not, he was 100% done. That made me kind of sad.

Anyways, enough about that. I finished sTori Telling by Tori Spelling. I really liked her book. For one it gave a lot of behind the scenes stuff about 90210, my all time favorite show. It also told a lot about her relationship with her mother. It made me very sad for her. If you like Tori Spelling I recommend the book. It is an easy read and isn't very long. As soon as her Mommywood book comes out in paper back I will be reading it. For now, I bough Lipstick Jungle by Candace Bushnell. I never watched the show on NBC and the book sounds really good. Did any of you watch the show or have read the book? She also wrote Sex & The City. Hopefully it will be good.

In other news, I am almost at 200 posts. I was going to do a giveaway but I can't find anything that I want to giveaway. I am thinking I might postpone the giveaway for a little later this year. I will keep looking for something spectacular!

Sorry for lack of a better post but nothing really exciting goes on during the week. Just work work work. Happy Wednesday friends!

Labor Day Weekend

It is so nice to have a long weekend but it sure has been busy. I was planning for an uneventful weekend but it quickly turned into a busy one. Which is okay because as much as I love to relax, I also love to be doing things.

Dustin was working on Friday and I got off a little early. I did come home and relax on Friday evening. That was nice. It was just me and the dogs. Dustin got off work on Saturday morning and then immediately had to go back to work. He works for my dad part time and he had to go work with my dad on Saturday morning. He got off about noon and then we went to go get his birthday present.

His present was totally unexpected. We are so excited that it all worked out. Oh your probably wondering what it is.......

He got a 2007 Chevy Silvarado. It is so nice. We were only going to look and ended up driving this off the lot. His other truck was a small truck and it had 100k miles and the cd player didn't work. It wasn't paid off and I told him we should just go look and see if we could find something with a lot lower miles for around the same payment. It all worked out and they gave him a good deal for his trade in and we ended up getting a little bit lower payment. Since it is almost his birthday I keep teasing him and telling him it is his birthday present.

The dogs were totally excited too. They had to check the new truck out.

I forgot how much I hate buying a new car. We spent all afternoon at the dealership and didn't leave until 5:45. It took forever and I was so glad to be leaving. Then we headed to straight to meet my family to eat for Dustin's birthday. We went to Babe's which is a all you can eat type restaurant. They only serve: chicken fried steak, fried chicken, chicken tenders or catfish. You choose your meat and then it comes with mashed potatoes, corn and green beans. It is all you can eat. It seriously is so good.

Nadalee and Clark being silly.

Dustin being silly. He stuck the chicken right in my face as my sister snapped the picture. Thanks Dustin. Ha!

Mom & Dad. I never could get a good picture of them looking at the camera.

After dinner we went back to my parent's house to have cake. I got 2 small cakes, one German chocolate (Dustin's favorite) and one white chocolate (since most of my family doesn't like German chocolate).

I think I have told you before that Dustin is not big on celebrating birthdays but in my family we are. So he did not like it when we all stood around and sang Happy Birthday and made him blow out the candles. Oh well, he got over it quickly.

Sunday we went to see our niece Cassandra and Dustin's family. We hung out with them for the afternoon and then headed back home. They live about an hour from us. The dogs had a great time visiting. They were so tuckered out.

Sunday night we went to have dinner at The Kerestine's. We had burgers, baked beans, creamed corn, salad and strawberry shortcake cake. It was so good! Thanks Kelsie for making such a wonderful dinner. She got all the recipes from The Pioneer Woman's blog. You should definitely check out her blog. I don't think we took a single picture. I hate when that happens.

Today I have lots to do around the house. The laundry has piled up and I desperately need to clean the house. Dustin is working today. So it is another busy day around the Wynn household. I hope you all had a wonderful Labor Day weekend!

It's Friday!!

Not only is it Friday but it is a 3 day weekend! Thank goodness! I know I was just on vacation last week but it was so hard getting back to my normal routine this week. I am sure having a 3 day weekend won't help any but I sure am glad.

Last night I picked up a pre-made dinner for 2 at Central Market and it was so good! Dustin didn't have anything at the house to make for dinner so I picked it up and it was so easy. It came with cheese enchiladas, spanish rice, beans and tortillas. All I had to do was put it in the oven. That is my kind of dinner. I also picked up a 7 layer dip and it was fantastic. I really with we had a Central Market close to where I live. The only one in our area is in Dallas near my office.

I also watched Project Runway! I am so loving this show! I haven't watched it too much over the past few seasons.

We don't have any big plans for the weekend. We are going to go out to eat on Saturday night for Dustin's 26th birthday! His birthday isn't until September 10 but we are going to celebrate this weekend. I will post pictures this weekend. Dustin has to work on Monday. Boo! I know he loves his job but I sure do hate the fact that he has to work every weekend and or holidays.

I know I have said it before, but I love this time of year!!! I came home last night and put a college football game on TV. I can't wait until this weekend. It will be full of college football. My Red Raiders play on Saturday night but I am not sure if it is televised.

Bring on the weekend!

Super Cool Moment of the Day

Today I shared an elevator with

Taylor Hicks!!!

That's right, he was in our building today to do an interview with one of the radio stations and I happened to get on the same elevator as him. I didn't speak to him because there were other people in the elevator with us but I wouldn't have known what to say anyways.

I know he isn't an A List celebrity or anything but he's still a celebrity! That is my super cool moment of the day or I should say month!

Fall TV

I am so excited for fall TV! I am a TV junkie. I hate to admit it but I am. I love coming home from work and curling up on the couch and watching TV. I especially love when it's cold outside.

My summer time show Army Wives is still on. It usually overlaps a little with all the new fall shows. Does anybody else watch Army Wives? I love it! I wish wasn't just a summer time show.

My favorite show is Brothers & Sisters. I absolutely love this show.

It comes on right after Desperate Housewives. I have watched Desperate Housewives from the beginning and I still love the show. Even Dustin likes to watch with me. I am looking forward to this season. Last season was really good and of course it left us hanging.

I think one of every one's fav is Grey's Anatomy. I am so glad that Izzie is returning. I was disappointed at the end of last season when it was speculated that Katherine Heigl was leaving the show.

This year Private Practice comes on right after Grey's. Yea! I love Private Practice.

I am so excited for Biggest Loser. Dustin and I are huge fans of this show. We can't wait until this season starts.

I can't wait for this season.

Other shows on NBC that I love are Law & Order SVU and Friday Night Lights. I am not sure if I should admit this but I have never watched The Office. Gasp! I know there are so many Office fans out there. It just never looked like something that I would like. I should try watching an episode because you never know. I also don't watch 30 Rock either. I know I know.

I'm not done yet! I also watch 90210 on CW. I am going to give this season a shot. I can't say that it is one of my favorites but I still watch it in hopes that more of the original characters will make appearances.

I also like Project Runway. This season is pretty good so far. I am pulling for the girl that is from Richardson, TX. She attended UNT which is here I graduated from. She won last weeks challenge!

I am pretty big American Idol fan as well. Not too sure how this season is going to go without Paula but I know I will still watch.

I told you I was a TV junkie. I may have even left out a few shows. I watch so many that I can't keep track.

What are you favorite shows? I always love finding a new show to watch!

Reviews

I finished reading A Summer Affair by Elin Hilderbrand and it was an easy read. It didn't really require much thought when reading it. I didn't really like how it ended but I still like the book. I think most of her books take place on Nantucket Island which was the setting of this book. I want to read her other books Barefoot and Cast Away.

Before I read her other books I picked up sTori Telling at Target today. I like Tori Spelling because I love the show Beverly Hills 90210. I also watched Tori's reality show on Oxygen. I also want to read Mommywood when it comes out in paper back. I am excited to start reading her book. It shouldn't take me long to finish since it isn't very long. I will let you know if it is worth reading when I finish.

I posted a few weeks ago about trying Pantene's Full & Thick shampoo, and I don't really notice any difference in my hair. So there you have it, on me it doesn't work. I have pretty much always used Pantene so I will probably keep using it but I don't think there is any magical shampoo out there that works wonders on hair.

On a side note: While I was at Target today I glanced around at the clothes and they had some really cute things for fall. I really like this gray sweater. I am really liking the colors gray and deep purple for the fall.
