We did a whole lot of nothing over the weekend. The extra day off was nice. Friday night Dustin and I went to BJ's Brewery and I totally splurged on one of these....
A chocolate chunk pizookie. Seriously this is the best thing ever! If you have never had one you are missing out.
Then we came home to no satellite. Ugh. I read my book and Dustin watched some stuff on the DVR. I think it is weird you can still watch the DVR when the satellite is out.
Saturday I met my mom at Chick Fil A for lunch and then ran to Target. My mom took Grayson to play on the playground for a few minutes. He had a blast and I freaked out because his bare feet touched the floor in there. Ha! I need to get better about bringing his shoes with me. Since he isn't walking yet I never bring them.
Dustin was working Saturday so Grayson and I spent the evening playing with toys.
Sunday I went to the mall which was a mistake. Way too many people. Grayson was worn out from people watching.
Monday we went and picked up my sister and her new husband from the airport. They finally got home from their 7 day cruise to the Virgin Islands. I am totally jealous! Then we went to eat some Mexican food for lunch. That afternoon Grayson took a long nap and I finished up his birthday invitations.
I hope you all had a great weekend and thank you to all the armed forces for serving our country.
I have been so busy lately I haven't had time to breathe. This past weekend was my sister's wedding. It was so much fun! I can't believe it is already over though. I have a few pictures to share but I will do a full re-cap once my sister gets pictures back from the photographer. I was so busy I wasn't able to snap a single picture so I borrowed these from one of the bridesmaids.

~ I can't believe all of the storms that have been happening lately. I am praying for those in Joplin that lost everything. There are more storms in the forecast. It has been such a crazy storm season.
~ Did anyone watch the Bachelorette? I did not and I don't plan to. However, I had it on last night while I was reading. I heard a story about one of the guys on the show. I don't know his name or where he is from but supposedly he is suspected of killing his wife. He was the one who was married to his wife for 7 years and he found his wife face down in the bathtub. He said she had a history of seizures. The story that is going around is he and his wife had a huge argument that was violent and a lot of people suspect of him killing his wife. How crazy is that?
~ I had jury duty yesterday. Ugh! I got picked and had to go back yesterday afternoon. Finally luck was on my side though and the case got dismissed. Hopefully I won't get called for another 3 years.
~ We don't have any big plans for Memorial Day. Dustin has to work all weekend so Grayson and I will be hanging out.
~ 4 weeks until Grayson's big First Birthday party! I will be busy getting everything together. I can't wait!
It was a busy busy weekend. Friday night I met some friends for dinner and to see the movie Something Borrowed. Loved it! I want to see it again. Saturday morning I headed to the salon to get my hair done. It has been 6 long months and my hair needed some TLC. After my appointment we headed south to visit Dustin's mom for Mother's Day.
We took his mom out to dinner and ate at a yummy Mexican food place.
When we got back from dinner and our night went south. We always take our dogs with us when we go visit Dustin's family. His mom lives on 2 fenced in acres so the dogs love to go run and play. When we got back from dinner Maribel was wheezing really really loud and it sounded as if she was struggling to get air. We thought maybe she had gotten overheated so we ran the water hose over her to cool her off. That didn't help and she continued to act as if she was struggling to breathe. So we hopped in the car and headed to an emergency clinic. Three and a half hours and a huge tab later we finally left around 11:30 p.m. with Maribel. After xrays and the vet sedating her to look in her throat we discovered she must of had an allergic reaction to something. It caused her tonsils and larynx to swell which caused the difficulty breathing. We were just happy that it was nothing serious and that she was going to be okay. She is doing a lot better.
Since we didn't get home until after 1 a.m. we didn't make it to church on Sunday morning. Dustin let me sleep in and then I got up and did a few things around the house. Grayson was still worn out from the late night and he went back down and took a 3 1/2 hour nap. Dustin and I ate lunch and relaxed. Later that afternoon my family came over to celebrate Mother's Day and we watched the Mavericks sweep the Lakers.
My mom and Grayson
The soon to be Newlyweds
For Mother's Day Grayson got me a heart shaped necklace with his name and birthstone on it and a new jewelry box with "I Love You Mommy" engraved on it. I was touched.
It was a fantastic first Mother's Day and I am so very blessed.
It's Friday! Here are some random things on my mind today.....
* I am going to see Something Borrowed tonight with some girlfriends! I am excited to see this movie. I am really hoping it isn't a disappointment. After all, I loved the book.
* I got summoned for jury duty. Ugh. I filled out the questionnaire online and I immediately got a response saying I was qualified. Boo! I thought about calling Dustin to see if I could "temporarily" become a stay at home mom so I could get out of it.
* I dropped my lap top in the bathtub last night. At least I saved my child from diving face first over the side of the tub. Lesson learned.
* I have some coupons for a few stores that I am itching to use. I am trying to be good and not spend money. I need to save it.
* Tomorrow will be 2 weeks until my sister's wedding!
* Mariah Carey released the names of her twins...Moroccan and Monroe. Umm is it just me or do the names of children of Hollywood get weirder and weirder?
* I am getting my hair done tomorrow! It has been 6 long months since I have had my hair cut and highlighted.
* I am hoping I get to sleep in at least one day this weekend. And by sleep in I mean at least 8 o'clock. After all, it is Mother's Day weekend!
how much my mother loved me until I became a mother. As my first Mother's Day approaches I have been thinking a lot about what it means to be a mom.
I'll start from the beginning....growing up I always wanted to get married and have a family consisting of 2 children. As I got older and in college I began to question whether or not I wanted children. I didn't grow up around small children and I didn't babysit in high school. I never felt comfortable around children. In fact, I have never been the person to "ooh" and "awww" over babies and children. Other people's kids annoyed me. Because I never had that motherly instinct I questioned myself as a mother. I wasn't sure I had it in me.
Once I met and started dating Dustin, I knew I wanted a child. I still questioned myself all the time. Was I cut out to be a mom? Over the years that Dustin and I dated I saw him interact many times with his niece and nephews. It came naturally to him. He is fantastic with children. I then became insecure. He was so great with babies and children and I didn't know the first thing about babies. I did know one thing though, seeing him with children melted my heart.
Once we got married we made a plan to enjoy our first year of marriage and we would start trying for a baby after our first anniversary. I was okay with that plan. After all, I still had a year and we could always change the plan. As our first anniversary approached I became nervous. I still remember the night that I took my last birth control pill. I remember my heart beating really fast. How could something like trying for a baby make me this nervous?
Dustin and I were very lucky in the fact that we tried a total of two months before becoming pregnant. We started trying in August and I found out on October 6, 2009 that I was pregnant. I was devastated in September when the pregnancy test turned up negative. I can't even imagine what women who struggle with infertility must go through. Once I got that positive pregnancy test I knew I was in for a ride. I was still nervous but I had 9 months to prepare and learn everything I could about babies and being a mother.
I was very excited to be pregnant but I was still insecure and nervous. I still questioned myself and prayed that I knew what I was doing. It was exciting to watch my tummy grow, see our baby via sonogram for the first time, find out he was a boy, decorate his nursery and feel him move for the first time. I knew I loved this little boy growing in my tummy but I never knew the amount of love I was capable of.
I cried when he was born. I remember hearing him cry for the first time and the first time I laid eyes on him. I can't describe the emotions that were going through me that day. It changed me. From that day I have not been the same. I know now what it is like to love something so much that your heart feels like it is going to burst. I know now what it is like to love something so much that it brings tears to your eyes every time you think about it. I know now what it is like to love something so much it literally hurts. And most of all, I now fully understand just how much my mother loves me.
God granted me with the most precious miracle on this earth...a child. He must have believed in me even though I didn't. I am forever grateful to him and I thank him everyday for this blessing. This year Mother's Day means so much more to me. It is my prayer that all Mother's know how much they are loved, not just on Mother's Day but every day. Being a mother is not easy but it is the greatest journey in life. It is also my prayer that every woman who is struggling to become a mom knows just how much you are loved and that God is holding your hand. He has a plan for you.
I will leave you with this song. To me it sums up everything I feel about being a mother. I hope Grayson knows that he is never alone. God won't ever let go.
Grayson is 10 months and we are two months away from the big 1 year! I seriously can't believe my baby is 10 months old. I swear we just brought him home from the hospital. I may need to get out the video from his birth and watch it tonight.
He is crawling every where and pulling up on everything. His favorite thing to pull up on
the toilet.
He also loves the toilet paper or sticking his hands in the toilet if the lid is up.
He is into everything. My days consists of saying "Grayson No" or "Grayson Stop" a million times. I never get to sit still either.
He loves playing with anything but his toys. He also loves playing with his daddy and his puppies.
He has 9 teeth and I can barely get him to eat baby food anymore. He wants real food. He eats anything from grilled cheese, mac n' cheese, peas, green beans, pasta or noodles, spaghetti, mashed potatoes and oreos. Yes you read that right...I give my child oreos (only every now and then). He goes nuts over them too. He also loves juice and goes crazy over capri sun.
We have been taking advantage of the nice weather and going on walks. He likes riding in his wagon.
We have had a bit of trouble with sleeping lately. We aren't getting much sleep in the Wynn household. The doctor says this is the age of separation anxiety. She also said it could be he is approaching different developmental milestones. I am not sure what the deal is but I do know I hope this stage passes really fast. I can't handle another sleepless night with a screaming baby.
Grayson has been talking up a storm and his newest thing is clapping his hands. He loves to clap his hands and does it over and over. I am trying to teach him "bye bye" but it hasn't caught on yet.
I have been busy planning his first birthday. I can't wait! I love this little boy more than life itself and my heart is full of love for him.
Thank you Lord for this precious little boy and the gift of motherhood.
I am a wife and a mother enjoying this journey called "life". God has blessed me beyond belief. I started this blog to journal our life as a family. On July 2, 2010 we became a family of 3 and it was the best day of my life. I love reading, shopping, TEXAS TECH football, country music, chocolate chip cookies, Starbucks, Mexican food and spending time with my family and friends.
My wonderful husband whom I adore. I thank God daily for bringing him into my life. He is the best daddy in the world and seeing him with our son melts my heart. Dustin loves hunting, fishing, football and baseball and can't wait to share all the above with our son.
Our beautiful baby boy who was born on July 2, 2010. He is our world and we love him more than words could ever express.
Our furr babies who we love more than two people probably should. They are spoiled rotten!
