Weekend Fun!

This weekend turned out to be fun even though it started off bad. Friday I left work a little early in hopes of getting home early but traffic wasn't cooperating. It took me over an hour and a half to get home. There was a wreck and I spent about an hour just sitting. Ugh...I really hate traffic.

After I finally made it home, Dustin and I ran over to Chili's for dinner. When we got home it was more bad news. That morning the dogs were due for their heartworm pill. I was running late and I gave them their pill really fast before heading out the door to work. I threw the pills on the kitchen counter. When we came home from dinner they had eaten every single pill. I called the vet and she told me they should be fine but just to be safe we needed to induce vomiting. I had to give both the dogs hydrogen peroxide. It was not fun at all. Dustin had to hold their mouths open and I had to pour the peroxide down their throats. Maribel started vomiting almost immediately. She kept looking at us with those sad eyes like "what did you just do me". It was awful. I will admit I got a little teary eyed. I don't know what I am going to do when I have a child. Maribel threw up about 4 times and Jax never threw up. I figured it was Maribel that ate the pills anyways. Luckily everything turned out fine.

Saturday Dustin had to work and I went shopping with my mom and sister. Before we went shopping my sister went and tried on a few wedding dresses just for fun! Saturday evening my good friend Jennifer came over and we went to dinner. We finished off the night by watching episodes of Kourtney & Khloe Take Miami. Don't ask me why I like that show but I do.

This morning Dustin came home from the station and made me pancakes!! Yum! I haven't had pancakes in forever. Then we headed out to the State Fair with my parents, sister and Clark. When we first walked into the fair we see a police escort go by with 3 black SUV's. We were wondering who was important enough for that kind of security and then we see.......

OPRAH!

I am not a huge Oprah fan but she is a celebrity none the less and it is always exciting when you see a celebrity right?

I love going to the State Fair for the food and to see the cars.

Nadalee and I with our fried Snickers.

And Clark with his chicken friend bacon. Sounds kind of gross but it was actually really good. I can't believe this year's biggest hit was fried butter. DISGUSTING!

We took this as we were leaving and about 5 minutes later it started pouring down rain. We didn't have an umbrella but we did have the Sham Wow that Dustin bought. It came with 4 and you can bet that me, mom and Nadalee held those bright orange sham wows over our heads as we walked to the car. Hey, it worked and only my pants were soaked when I got to the car.

It was a fun day and sadly tomorrow is Monday. I hope you all had a good weekend.

High School Days

Sometimes Fridays take me back to my days in high school. Not really something I would ever want to re-live but high school was fun none the less. I remember being in high school and Fridays meant Friday night football games. I loved the bright stadium lights, the sound of the band playing in the stands and the rush you felt when your team took the field. You thought you were on top of the world and that this was as good as it was going to get. Oh to be young again. It does get better.... a lot better.

I remember that feeling of innocence and my only care in the world was making sure that I had plans for the weekend and what outfit I was going to wear. Heaven for bid I stay home on a Friday or Saturday night in high school. You know, it just wasn't cool. Now I love staying home on the weekends. It really doesn't get much better than that.

I remember that feeling of being a Senior and everybody was graduating and going their separate ways. I was filled with worry that things were never going to be the same. They aren't and boy am I thankful for that. I had a sense of loss and I was saddened. I still see my close friends from high school and I wouldn't have it any other way. Sometimes I wish....really only for a split second....that I could go back and be young and carefree but then I look at my reality and I am happy right where I am.

I guess my point to all my jumbled thoughts above is, that even though I become nostalgic for my high school days every once in a while I am so incredibly happy where I am today. I love my weekends at home with my husband and my fur babies. Things change and they will always be changing but they get better. I guess this morning was one of those mornings where I wished all I had to worry about was what I was going to wear to the big game tonight.

Are You a Facebook Stalker?

Not only am I a blog stalker but I am a Facebook stalker too but Facebook really annoys me. Who's bright idea was it to have an option of making your profile private to only your friends?? Yes mine is private but that doesn't mean everyone else's should be. You see, I know who a lot of people are but I don't actually "know" them. I want to be able to look at their profiles to see what they have been up to but you can't because you have to be their friend.

I would definitely look like a crazy person if I asked to be their friend because they probably would have no idea who I am. But I know who they are and I am not creepy. LOL!! Okay maybe I am a little creepy because I am trying to stalk people's profiles. Facebook should definitely create some type of device that detects rather you are a creepy stalker or just a nosy stalker like me!

If only Facebook worked like the blog world. Most everyone's blogs are public and it is perfectly acceptable to follow a blog of someone you don't know.

It would definitely make my stalking habits a lot more fun!

Wishful Wednesday - The Grass is Always Greener

I wish I could change one physical trait about myself......

If I could change one thing hands down it would be my weight. I have struggled with my weight my entire life. I do not think I am fat by any means but I have always been overweight. I hate my lower body. That is my problem area. I absolutely hate working out plus I don't have much time to work out and I love food! I have always been self conscious about my weight and I will go to extreme measures to avoid a bathing suit. I seriously can't stand the way my lower body looks.

I have done lots of different diets in the past but I always gain the weight back. If I could change anything that is what it would be. Sorry to make this such a serious Wishful Wednesday but to be honest it is something I wish daily. It is difficult and I wish there was something that could get me in the right frame of mind to loose the weight and keep it off.

Just for fun, if I had to choose something else about myself to change I would change my nose. I think it is too big. LOL!

Head over to The Seattle Smith's to play along!

Giveaway Time!

Since I won my first giveaway a few weeks back I decided to hold my own giveaway!

If you have read my blog before you know that I do not like to cook. I have never really enjoyed it. However, I do love to eat! I grew up in the South and my grandmother is one mean cook. Nothing beats her cookin. A while a go my friend Kendall posted about a new blog that she found called The Pioneer Woman. I fell in love with her blog. I loved reading her series "Black Heels to Tractor Wheels". A few weeks ago I went to dinner at my friend Kelsie's house and practically our entire meal was recipes from The Pioneer Woman's blog. Everything was so delicious. Well, The Pioneer Woman is coming out with her own cookbook in October and I have decided to give a copy to one lucky reader.

She has many great recipes on her website and I know that her cookbook is going to contain even more wonderful recipes. I do like to cook for special occasions and holidays. I think this will be perfect for any occasion. She has lots of down home country recipes. So if you love to cook I know you will enjoy her cookbook. If you don't like to cook maybe you have a friend that does!

Now there is a catch, her cookbook is not released until October 27. I know, that is a few weeks a way. I have pre-ordered two of her cookbooks. One for me and one to give away. If you know me at all you know that I love to give gifts. It usually results in me not being able to wait so I either tell them what it is before I even give them the gift or I just give it to them right away. That is kind of how I am now, I can't wait to post about this giveaway. So, if you are more patient than I am please enter my giveaway! I promise as soon as the cookbook arrives on my door step I will immediately send it to the winner.

Here is how to enter:

I will accept entries until 5:00 pm Central time Monday October 19. I will announce the winner Tuesday October 20.

For one entry: leave a comment on this post.

For two entries: Become a follower of my blog. If you are already a follower leave me a comment letting me know.

For three entries: Post about this giveaway on your blog and leave me a comment letting me know.

Now get to entering! Good luck!

An Engagement and A Wedding

I am going to do my weekend re-cap backwards. My exciting news that I left you hanging with on Friday is that my baby sister got ENGAGED!!!!! I am so excited for her and Clark. I can't wait to help her plan her wedding! Here is the engagement via pictures.....

My sister was totally surprised and had no clue. Clark decided that he wanted to do it front of his family and ours. I give him props for doing in front of all of us. LOL! We all went to Saltgrass for lunch and Clark had a special message inside Nadalee's menu that read: Nadalee I love you to the moon and back, will you marry me??

It was really funny because the waiter had to wait until we were all there and seated and then he brought out the menus. We all knew what was coming except for Nadalee and of course she was the last to open her menu. We all opened our menus waiting for her to open hers and first she asked the waiter for a straw and then she sweetened her tea and then finally opened the menu. She broke into tears immediately. I was so happy that we were there to share the big moment with her.

Clark's family

My family

More than likely the wedding is going to be in June of 2011. They both want to finish school before getting married. Clark is in grad school and my sister is a junior in college. It will be a long engagement but it will give them plenty of time to plan. I am so excited for them!

Saturday night we went to Matt & Miranda's wedding at Pecan Plantation in Granbury.
Amanda F I thought of you! Ha!

Dustin was the best man. He has known Matt for a while. They met when they were both working for the Benbrook Fire Department. The wedding was fun. Here is a picture of Dustin and I. I am tired of uploading pictures today and I don't feel like uploading the rest. Ha!

I hope you all had wonderful weekend!

Oh How I Love Fridays!!

So happy it is Friday! Today is a short day at work for me! This post is probably going to be really short too. Not much going on around here lately. Tonight we have a rehearsal for a wedding and tomorrow is the wedding. Dustin's good friend Matt is getting married tomorrow! I will try and take lots of pictures to share.

Last night my work threw a party for all of our clients at The House of Blues. It was pretty cool. We had a band come and play and there was lots of yummy food and drinks. Everything turned out really well. I didn't have time to take any pictures though.

I have some exciting news to share with you (exciting to me anyways) but I can't tell you just yet.
P.S.~ No, I am not pregnant! Ha!!

Happy Friday!
